The summer of 95 the Minister for the Environment, Thorbjorn Berntsen, opened the Kassen canal in Hovag. A beautiful canal providing a new gateway to a pleasant little trip just beside Blindleia. The passage is 200 metres. The canal, which was previously an old sea route, has opened the way for boat traffic in to Kirkekilen from Blindleia by the Kvanneid fjord.

The statue is a scary little guy. But you have to pass slowly to see him as it is a bit hidden. But fun to see it with small children. The canal is narrow and nice, and there is a good restingarea at the end...More

Entering from the East you may worry when the legendary Kassentassen looks down on you from his precipice by the tiny bridge crossing the canal above you. But apart from that it's a totally safe voyage. You may want to go into the Isefjær fjord...More

If going by boat through Blindleia I would recommend taking a turn in Bliksund and go through Kassen canal, a very narrow canal that leads into the Isefjær fjord. You can continue in the fjord until you come all the way into Isefjær. On the...More

Between Lillesand and Kristiansand is Blindleia, the most beautiful place for a boat trip in Norway. And don't miss Kassen-Kanalen half way threw. What a scenery!
