The lake is very blue, backed by the hills all reddish brown, and from here the mountains are starting to come into view. As much of a highlight is the approach to the lake, you will climb and climb until you reach the Kampa-la Pass (4,794m) but even before you get to the to the top don’t miss the opportunity... More

One of the three sacred lakes in Tibet, this lake is nearest to Lhasa. Walk near the lakeside with a peace of mind and an open heart. Request for connection with the divinity there. On the day of my visit, my group connected with the Green Tara, the lake turned green and we were infused with immense green healing energy.... More

This sacred lake is simply gorgeous. You get an incredible view from the highway to see it vibrant color and unique serpent shape. Definitely a highlight of Tibet to see this. We were lucky to have a beautiful clear day so the views were impressive.

I can see why it is called one of the greatest lakes of Tibet. The turquoise color can be seen even in a cloudy day there. You can basically feel the altitude there and it's quite windy. There is one restaurant there but it was full even after 2.00pm. Still felt difficult to find place to ear although there is... More

There are two route from Lhasa to Shigatze, this is the longer one (by 2 or more hours) and there is a toll. But must do it one way at least! The reason to travel is the amazing trip through the mountains over Kambala Pass, stunning mountain scenery and driving down to and along Yamdrok Yumtso. We were told over... More

A very beautiful lake. The drive there from Lhasa over the Kambala Pass is equally memorable. The very top of the pass has incredible views of the lake.

You have been staring out the windows of your vehicle on the long trek up marvelling at the majesty of the mountains. The vehicle rounds a bend and Lake Yamdroke appears. Wow. Turquoise blue water stretching as far as the eye can see set against the mountains and white billowy clouds in a clear blue sky. You cannot take a... More

The drive from Lhasa through snaking mountain roads needed over two hours to reach the Yamdrok Yumtso Lake. So overall you probably will need a traveling time of about 4 hours. At the end of the gruelling drive or a vehicle ride you see a patch of turquoise water representing the lake. Entrance fee was paid for by our guide... More

This Lake is just beautiful. The blue water is amazing. Also easily seen en route from lhasa to Shigatse. The viewing points are lined with locals who want you to pay for photos with you and their yak/goat/mastiff etc....its cute. Kich but adds to the fun. You could spend all day looking at the lake.

Approximately 2.5-3 hours drive from Lhasa, worth the drive for the beautiful scenery, the serene blue color lake, the locals with their typical dogs, camels ... and of course an excellent local guide provided by China Vision Holidays.
