Beautiful scenery, well organised horse ride with knowledgeable guides. Horses and tack were in good condition. Had a wonderful ride on the beach. Really recommend it, will be going again.

Worth a wander
Dec. 2020
Imhoff Farm is definitely worth stopping at. The property is beautiful with lovely gardens. A range of shops and places for coffee plus a decent farm shop. We enjoyed our visit and would certainly return.

Horseback riding in the Mother City
Sep. 2020
My very first time horseback riding so I was super nervous but the amazing guide Hannah made me feel super comfortable and the awesome guide Reason made me feel super safe. The spectacular scenery presented by Kommetjie and Noordhoek made it all the more memorable!

A place to relax, enjoy great homemade kitchen, excellent wines and farm flair
Feb. 2020 • Couples
This is not a farm stall like many others. Imhoff is family, relaxation and wonderful hospitality. Their farmstall with freahly baked bread, homemade cheese, pies and many other great food is outstandiong in quality and service. The little café offers a wonderful selection of homemade cakes and freshly brewed coffee. A very special location is their wine store. Here, you will experience an expertise in advisory that is second to none. The restaurant is a very traditional cape dutch sytle kitchen with a nice garden and views in the bay. - Alltogether, a wonderful place to stop by, relayx and enjoy.

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE
Jan. 2020
My grandson visited Imhoff Farm from a very young age. He used to say come see how I feed "my animals". I took him on 18 January 2020 and I was grossly disappointed.
The Price to enter is R20 and a little tin of feed is R5. That hasn't change but the Farmyard certainly has. There are grape vines planted on most of the yard.
We entered and went straight to what we thought were the Pigs and Goats - his favourite animals. We passed piles of rubble and then saw a few Goats with Kids, three cows and some ducks.
My grandson although disappointed that there were no Pigs had "fun" with the goats. I bought 2 tins of food and another 2 later (total of 4) to only feed the Goats and ducks. The ducks also wanted attention and pecked him on his legs.
As we were leaving I asked the gentleman where the Pigs went and he answered there is one near the entrance. We saw the one lonely Black Pig and my grandson said "AH". There were some Turkeys and more Ducks. The other animals did not interest my grandson so I cannot say what they were - no pics!.
Shortly thereafter the gentleman came and ushered the animals into their enclosure.
What a let down !!

Foodie alert!!! The BEST CHEESE in Cape Town, if not in the whole of South Africa!
Feb. 2020
You don't need another good reason to visit Imhoffs Farm, but if you are in any way a cheese fan, you absolutely must include it on your itinerary for any visit to Cape Town.

Tucked away behind the main farm buildings is 'The Cheesery' an unassuming period building which combines a spotless milking parlour and kitchen (complete with vintage restored cheese press) a cold room and the tasting room and shop. Every morning, the goats come in and give 70 litres (think that was the amount) of fresh milk, which is used to make just 8 kilos of cheese each day.

The young cheesemaker Geneve Braaf, is completely self taught and her skills are quite extraordinary. She constantly experiments with different flavours, cultures, maturities and blends to create a dazzling array of different sheep and goats cheeses, from mild fresh feta to wincingly sharp (but in a good way) charcoal-veined soft varieties.

She is passionate about her work, which has been recognised internationally - she recently won a young cheesemaker award which resulted in her flying to Switzerland to find out more about the cheese-making process. Her cheeses are now being sought out by top restaurants and deli's all over the Cape, but it's so much more interesting to meet her and find out more about how the whole process works.

We did a tasting of 12 cheeses and ended up having to buy 8 as they were so good!

And if you are a fan of pickles, relishes and chutneys too, their resident condiment queen, Shirley Vermaak, makes a huge variety exclusively for The Cheesery. We left with homemade sweet mustard, fig jam and beetroot chutney, but would have bought many more if our luggage allowance had let us...

When we arrived The Cheesery had also just had a delivery of fresh figs from The Figary, a farm in Worcester which supplies to top UK supermarkets. We obviously had to buy a tray of figs, which were exquisite (and much more air mile friendly!)

Imhoffs Farm is a great place to visit - lots of foodie treats, restaurants, artisan producers and even a little sushi place, and it's on the way to gorgeous Kommetjie, with it's iconic lighthouse and famous surfing beach.

Stop off, and find The Cheesery, buy yourself some cheese and chutney, pick up a loaf of bread and go and picnic by the ocean, it will be one of your favourite days in the Cape, I promise!

A little gem, often ignored
Feb. 2020
This is a great little place. Quaint and relaxing. We lunched at Blue Water. Charming atmosphere. I'm usually not a pizza eater, but order the 4 cheese pizza and I had to force myself to stop because there were these fantastic pies in a case as we walked in that I knew I just had to try. Definitely, did not disappoint. The lemon meringue was too die for. There are little shops, galleries, a sushi restaurant, horseback riding, petting zoo, shade trees and play area for children with tree rope, tree house and large lawn.

DO NOT RIDE HERE! DANGEROUS WILD UNTRAINED HORSES!
Jan. 2020
DO NOT RIDE THESE AWFUL HORSES! My husband and I went ridding in 35 MPH (they shouldn’t have allowed this) winds because it was booked for our honeymoon. 5 out of 9 horses WERE NOT HAPPY and acted out. The leaders (Hannah’s) horse jumped up and ran in a circle 5 minutes into the ride, mine (Mucky/Merky?) quickly followed jumping up and making a U-turn running back to where we came from. Luckily it stopped because the other horses were blocking it. Should have gotten off then but didn’t. Hannah said the horse got “spooked.” Thought it was odd.. my horse and 2 other peoples horses kept pulling us and the horses were throwing their heads back and forth. It was clear they weren’t happy. We got down to a large open beautiful beach but the winds were insane. Not sure why we didn’t turn around. When we turned to go back my husbands horse (Diesel) out of nowhere TOOK OFF! RUNNING full speed, he was hanging on the side, the saddle turned upside down (should have been more secure), he fell off and luckily was ok. He got back on the same horse (BAD IDEA!!!) and 10 seconds later the horse SPRINTED RUNNING FASTER THAN EVER DOWN THE WHOLE BEACH. He was hanging from the side of the horse and the horse wasn’t stopping. Both of the leaders just sat there on their horse just watching, didn’t try to stop the horse at all! My husband got thrown off this time and was VERY hurt! He couldn’t get up, move his wrist and his body was in pain. Hannah said he had to get back on a horse and no one could come get the horse. Having no service and in the middle of nowhere, he got on her horse which “wouldn’t do that.” (her’s already got spooked but he had no choice). Ends up he sprained his wrist and BROKE HIS BACK RIB. Great ending to our honeymoon. The 5 other riders in our group hated the ride at all and they were ALL very glad to get off of the horses, NO ONE ENJOYED! They closed the horseback riding the rest of the day. Everyone else is VERY lucky they didn’t need to experience these awful untrained horses. We did NOT get our money back because we signed a wavior that “horses can be unpredictable and bite or kick.” I’ve been on plenty of horses and never had horses that were this unhappy and not trained. DO NOT GO HERE! AWFUL HORSES, COMPANY AND STABLES in poor condition! Wish I was smart enough to back out from the start when I saw the stables were in poor condition and half the horses opened the gate to run back to the stables when they were trying to get saddles on them.
