Cute little coastal village. Here I want to retire one day. Many stairs to climb the lighthouse, but definitely worth the effort when you get up.

Quick stop to take in the scenery, marvel at the beauty of the Cape, snap a pic and then continue the drive to Cape of Good Hope.

This is a distinctive spot seen from many places, putting Kommetjie on the map. I don't think that there are any tours, but it's location makes it great to be admired from Chapman's Peak Drive, from Long Beach, as well as from the scenic road...More

Well worth a visit to walk to or from the Kommetjie village where there is a choice of restaurants. A well maintained boardwalk makes the walk from the little Kom to the lighthouse and back an absolute pleasure. Always a popular place for surfers on...More

the lighthouse is the tallest cast iron one in SA and well worth the visit. clean and tidy and silly pricing only R10 for a pensioner and R16 for 'normals'. very friendly staff and fun for a climb

This must rank of one of the iconic seascape scenes in South Africa. The drive to the lighthouse is well marked and a wooden walkway takes you right to the boulders leading down to the water's edge. We had a clear wind free day with...More

We came to Slangkop Point Lighthouse when driving along the stunning western coastline. You can't really miss the lighthouse which is interesting and beautiful in itself.

This is a rather iconic lighthouse and has been there for many decades if not longer. But the grounds are fenced now so access is only when open. If you like lighthouses you can still have a close drive by and get a picture.

We spent a couple weeks travelling the Cape Town area from a place we stayed at just off the beach in the area. Some of the best local experiences included walking the length of the beach early in the morning, watching the surfers, climbing the...More

I think what I love about this lighthouse is the access to it. The boardwalk (Die Kom) is a lovely walk along the shoreline. There are benches along the way where you can sit and enjoy the Atlantic ocean's crashing waves, and the surfers braving...More

They don’t have a Braai area and fires are banned although a little further on towards Scarborough there are designated braai areas at Soetwater
