This is a hidden gem which can easily transport you back in time..... the narrow streets between the houses are only accessible on foot. The old fisherman's cottages, are now mostly holiday lets, but you can feel that the past is ingrained in every stone....More

A beautiful rural location with a great fossil beach. The walk to the beach is extremely steep so be prepared for your walk back up to the car park. Also sits right on the Cleveland Way walking route.

Visited since childhood,need to be fit to manage the steep bank down to Bay,although car parks at to and Hal way. Always breezy but always enjoyable.

What a nice beach, plenty of parking and wonderful sand, hunted fossils and had a lively afternoon pity cafe was shut for the winter though.

This is our favourite bay on the coast in North Yorkshire. There is a small pay & display car park towards the bottom of the hill although you can park at the top and walk down to the beach but it is steep. Lovely café...More

A steep road leads down to the beach where there is a tiny car park. It seems to be a favourite with dog owners. It's a lovely long bay with a sandy beach and a cafe overlooking the bay serves fabulous ice creams. Toilet facilities...More

Lovely place with stunning views across the beach and bay with great sand for the children to play. Lovely old building and some good pubs serving good beers, wines and food

Lovely beach. Great for water sports and fossil hunting. Limited parking at the bottom of the hill. Very pretty place with beautiful views.

Just what you want for a family day at the beach. Loo and great cafe at top of path leading to beach. Nice big beach when tide is out, be careful as tide comes in quick. Nice little village and pub. Only down side is...More

The village has a shop but not for groceries. Whitby is only about 8 miles and the next big shop is at Saltburn where there is a large Asda on the outskirts
