Out back historical cemetery with some head stones on place, gives a better insight into times gone by & the risk of death by diseases for early settlers in Silverton

I have to be honest, I only went here because of my friends. I am not into wandering around cemeteries. But was very pleasantly surprised. This cemetery maps the devastation of typhoid in the late 1880’s. Very profound .

Love the history & stories that old cemetery’s tell. Silverton was no exception, so many lives lost at such young ages. Tells the story of how harsh life was back then.

Stopped in as we always do when travelling for a walk around the old cemetery, always interesting to look at ages, especially children, which just highlights the difficulties of those days. Worth a stop
