Once a formal garden built for Peter the Great, this popular park still has more than 80 of the original marble statues and sculptures and houses Peter's Summer Palace, a simply designed two-story building that now displays many of the ruler's own artifacts.

This palace in Peterhof, about 45 kms from St. Petersburg, was home to the Russian royalty presumably during the summer months. It is located next to the Gulf of Finland (you can see Finland from the palace gardens) sorrounded by huge gardens with fountains, man-made streams/canals, etc. earning it the nickname of "Versailles of Russia". You will need to get... More

I was there on a super cold day and its hard to admire the garden and the fountain was closed but still its such a stunning sight from the entrance. The good thing to visit in april is that there's no long queue. Inside the palace was also stunning. A mix of chinese rooms are strange but interesting. The ride... More

You can easily spend a half or more of the day enjoying the gardens and fountains. We did not see the palace inside, after being told that it was better to go to Catherine's Palace in Pushkin for that. In order to arrive here there are very fast boats, but some might make you a little dizzy.

Once again this is a very large and elegant place to visit, so much to see, bring your walking shoes and cameras, with lots of batteries. Might take more than one visit to see everything. The gardens are very nice to see in the summertime, there are many groups of people so come early to get in first

I went to this Palace with my wife and mum in-law. I have for years dreamt of coming to this place and it was worth the wait! I'm coming back to see it in the summer when all the fountains are on! An amazing place and it is one I will always recommend worth adding onto a bucket list!

We visited Peterhof palace and gardens in th eend of March, when it was early sprin. The place was still very beautiful and a must see. However, it was really cold and windy, and the fountains were not working (they are only turned on from may to october). I strongly recommend to visit this place during the high spring or... More

Your trip to St Petersburg won`t be complete without a tour of Peterhof, the beautiful summer residence of the Russian Imperial family. Commissioned by Peter the Great, this stunning palace and its expansive gardens are sure to impress. Peterhof is the oldest of the Imperial residences of Russia. Today it is a park complex that includes the principle palace and... More
