Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was the highest altitude(5,644 m) I ever reached/trek in my life till date, and a journey of lifetime.
This adventurous destination was on my bucket list from over a decade which fulfilled last October.
If I could give 6 stars (say exceptional than excellent) it would be right valued, and the view (including Mt. Everest) from Kala Patthar was unbeatable.

We elected to take a helicopter tour straight to Kala Patthar via Lukla from Kathmandu due to our age & physical abilities- it was our 50th anniversary. We spent 1 night at Hotel Everest view after Kala Patthar. Kala Patthar is basically a bare spot of land above the Everest Base camp at 18,514' . The day was super clear and 32 degrees. We had an amazing view of Everest in all it's majesty at 29,028' for about 5 to 10 minutes to absorb & take pics. Then we were dropped off at Hotel Everest View to overnight, then 2 days of hiking back down to Lukla & back to Kathmandu.
I would highly recommend a helicopter tour to Kala Patthar as a day trip if you don't have the time or physical capabilities to do a 14 day trek. Our reverse trek took us 4 days, which were extremely happy with.

We had a plan for going to Gurudomnar Lake but as it was closed for last three months, we were looking for alternatives. Thanks to our Driver he has given idea to visit Kala Patthar. We paid him.some extra bucks and he drive us to this heavenly place. If you don't find snow where in North Sikkim please visit this place you won't be disappointed. It is fresh snow covered heavenly valley aside a very big mountain called Kala Patthar -15000ft. We saw couple of Bullbodozeer fully under Snow, may be be taken there for Road construction . Believe it or not, even on 15th April , we saw continuous Snow fall ! Amazing place can't compare with any other place - full will fresh snow . We spend around 2 hrs there . No proper road there ..it's all temp road as if like some has cut the ice slabs to make a path way . Heavenly feeling and must say best place we have visited. See some pics . Location - beyond Chopta Valley another 2/3 km Kala Patthar.
