We visited the Nottingham Brewery over the weekend of 12 September 2020. Having been to this jewel in the Midlands many times before, I was looking forward to a warm welcome, lots of craft beer to sample and a selection of apparel to buy. Well, we entered the Brewery and were met by two ladies who were engrossed in texting on their phones, hardly greeting us. We had to initiate contact by asking about the beer tastings that were so much fun in the past. We were told ther were tasters available at a fee, nothing more. The charming, welcoming atmosphere I experienced on previous visits was sadly missing on this visit. I did notice renovations that were in place since my last visit, but we did not use any of the facilities provided, as we felt rather xxunwelcome. Needless to say, I did not replace my old sweater, nor did we partake in any beer drinking. We left feeling rather sad and unwelcome. Would I venture back? Maybe, if only to try to try and replace my old, faded sweter.

It’s been a while since I was last here. The last time I was amazed at the quality of the beer and this visit also hasn’t disappointed.
Did a refresher tasting beer platter followed by a glass off “Whistling Weasel” Pale Ale.
Awesome beer!
The wife tried the beer platter with me then went to a craft Pink Gin.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this place IMHO is well worth a visit.

I'd heard so much about this craft brewery nestled in the grounds of the Rawdons in the gorgeous Midlands, but our experience was a bit disappointing. Half the beers weren't available to taste, and the service was slow and disjointed. Gin and beer tasting was good. Will have to go back and see if we catch them on a better day.

We were really disappointed with the Nottingham Road brewery - we'd specifically gone out of our way to come here and enjoy learning something about the beers and how they're made. Instead we were greeted by no one, really: a woman came out - no 'hello', no warm welcome, and when we asked for a selection of beers they arrived and were chucked on the table. There was no personal touch, no chat about the different beers and how they're made, and each of the small tipple glasses were manky - they'd not been washed and cleaned. The whole experience was lacking which was a surprise as it could be amazing. It could be a real asset to the Midlands Meander but as it stands and from our party's experience, we would not recommend going at all.

I loved it here. Great little place to sit out and enjoy your beer tasting. I'll definitely be returning when I'm back in Nottingham Road.

Excellent brewery with a great selection of historic and modern brews to try in a paddle or on to purchase and take away.
Great hearty pub meals for lunch with large generous serves.
If the weather is good the beer garden is such a good spot to sit back and relax.
Try the modern paddle of beers!! Mango Ale was my highlight!

Great craft beer. Enjoyed the whistling weasel. Wanted a tour but was told must book online in advance. Was disappointed.

Poorly sign posted and would have missed turn off had I not been advised prior to take directions to Rawdons Hotel.Pleasant lunch at pub next to Rawdons Hotel but apart from that was very disappointing.
Spent some time in brewery gift shop but no one in attendance to provide information on the brewery itself or tour of brewery or sampling of products.

The brewery is set in the grounds of Rawdons Hotel and our group of 4 sampled all the beers available. Well worth a stop although if you are going to sample too much take a designated driver. Recommended.

Nottingham Road Craft Breweries set us in the right mode since our first visit in July 2015 to discover micro breweries throughout South Africa.
My husband and I once again had the pure pleasure to sample on the Notties beer during our recent stay at Rawdons Hotel & Estate from 31 March – 2 April 2016. As I mentioned in my previous review we do not in general fancy beer but this micro brewery got us hooked. We are in general wine lovers but felt inclined on both afternoons to sample on the beer at Boar’s Head pub at Rawdons Hotel under the trees.
We had the Pale Draught and seasonal Mango Ale on our first afternoon and I was convinced after a sip (or two) of my husband’s Mango Ale to have one on our second afternoon of pure bliss.
I can highly recommend too stay at Rawdons for a complete experience of this gem in the Midlands. It is simply the perfect base to explore all the gems this area has to offer.
Nottingham Road Micro Brewery beers can be purchased at the Capital Craft Brewery in Pretoria as well.
We will definitely be back to sample on these excellent beers.
