We sampled five of their wines when visiting this winery. They won an award back in 2006 for best Pinot, but the vintage we sampled was good, but not great. The gentleman pouring our wine did a great job describing the wines. There is a spiral staircase leading to a platform with views of the wine fields and surrounding hillsides. We enjoyed the cherry trees by the parking lot which were in bloom during our visit.

We called into Rochford Winery whilst visiting several wineries in the area.

As soon as we arrived at the wine tasting bar we were met by a very vibrant and helpful staff member called Phil.

I opted for the 7 wine tastings for a very reasonable $10, however Phil provided several additional tastings at no extra charge. He was excellent in explaining the various wines and was a joy to chat with.

As we bought a few bottles of wine the tasting fee was waived.

The winery has an excellent and reasonably priced restaurant and whilst I did not try the Gin Bar it also looked interesting.

When next visiting the area we will be sure to drop in here again.

So, if you want a really great, friendly place for lunch, coffee and wine, with an amazing view and the most exceptional service - this is it
Went by late in the afternoon (mid week), wasn't busy looking for a coffee and a glass of wine.
This does not disappoint. We ordered the Moscato and Latte, which was superbly served by Jack (The sweetest, nicest young man ever) , who pleasantly chatted with us and worked with such level of pride, now sets the benchmark for how late afternoon conversations , wine and great company should be experienced. Well done this place and well done Jack !

They should be Roachford Wines it was that bad, I have been here for events and to eat, the event management is appauling, Pre booked Taxis were given away as they could not organize a pre booked and not booked lane, this was a major problem for me as I had been involved in a traffic accident and had a driver I trust and vehicle I could get into, but security forced my driver to take someone else, I had to wait an extra 2 hours for him to return. They need better management for traffic during events, but they seem only to care about how cheaply they can do things.

Some of the events I have been to have been ok, and have have been to many Day on the Greens, but does not make up for the disaster of the last one I went to, never again even if I get paid to go. Don't believe the ticket that says shows go ahead rain hail or shine as one of the ones I went to was cancelled mid show with no refund, Ticket company, Promoter, venue and insurance all passed the buck.

As for the Food it was overpriced and not up to the expectations. I will admit I am spoiled with great food at reasonable prices in the Greater melbourne area and Wines were ok, but my prior experiences left me thinking we could have gone anywhere else in the Yarra Vally to have a better meal. This was the choice of friends so thought I would give them another chance

Money Grubs!! Rochford estate you are a disgrace!! I’m well aware there are event coordinators at fault here also, how ever it’s rochford estates name on the building!! Rochford have always been below average with service and accommodating patrons at these events, how ever last night was next level dangerous and disgusting! Not to mention Brand Damaging! Toilet’s inadequate, couldn’t find anyway where to wash hands after exiting the urinals, urinals were nearly full of waste and smelt, place smelt like really bad sewerage upon entering and exiting, extensive wait time for drinks and started running out of drinks at around 6pm, food service was completely congested and under catered, unable to get any food or water without waiting over an hour. The car park situation was extremely dangerous and had no traffic management what so ever (to educate you, a young girl on her phone on the exit to the main road is not traffic management)!!! There was no lighting over the paddocks and I over heard people injuring them selves as they fell down ditches and into fencing! I know this for a fact as I had to assist a guy with a moon boot and on crutches!! My pregnant wife was in a lot of discomfort as we waited nearly 2 hours to get out of a paddock that was unsuitable for standard vehicles. (My car bottomed out across what felt like old dry tractor tracks!) Rest assured I’ll be making sure work safe and the council investigate this and that appropriate measures are taken to ensure your health and safety risk of a venue to everyone is brought up to a safe standard! Once again ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL!!

Visited Rochford for Father’s Day lunch for a set menu BBQ. We waited almost 1 and a half hours for cheese and fruit platters which were fine but very very basic. Drinks orders were often wrong and the staff offered to refund or offered to replace in addition to the incorrect order which again was fine just a little stressful having to challenge the order. We went on the wait another hour for a plate of cold food which was pretty tasteless and again basic. Portion sizes varied greatly with the waiter stating it depended on the cut, however the cut was the same only the serving size varied. The used plates were just left on the table and we’re still there when we left. At $50 a head it was an appalling experience. Walking past cheap stuffed toys on the way out said it all. Save yourself the money, time, effort and time and go elsewhere. Anywhere else!!

I was part of a large tour group which had the displeasure of having a wine tasting at this venue today.
Admittedly we arrived late, due to our trip before running late, but our tour manager did ring and explain,.and they were ok about us still turning up.
Probably would have been better if they'd asked us not to go, or reschedule. We were given an extremely lukewarm welcome, ushered straight into a building, out of sight of the wedding they also had taking place there. We were totally made to feel unwelcome and the whole experience was extremely rushed, with very little information given about the wines we were given to sample. We were then informed that we weren't allowed to go into the gift shop (which meant we couldn't buy any wine, even if we wanted to) as they wanted to keep it clear for the wedding party. All in all, an extremely poor experience and I for one, won't recommend them. Several of us also asked our tour manager to convey our dissatisfaction back to his head office, in the hope that they wouldn't use this winery for any further groups.

We booked to be 'On the Deck' for the Wildflower event. At $200/head to be on the Deck we expected to be ON the Deck! Not inside where taped music was playing so we couldnt even hear the music that was happening on stage! We asked 'Jordy' the Manager about having a table on the Deck, that the 'Deck' means exactly that not inside his Cafe! He was extremely rude to us.
He said "we don't want people like you coming back here" !
Damm right Jordy, we WILL NOT be back ever again.
We spoke to many other patrons inside the Cafe and all of them were of the same opinion as us.
AND $20 to park in a paddock?! Total Rip Off

The atmosphere was unique so that is a plus from me.

First experience both for ADOTG and Rochford Winery and I sincerely doubt I would return because:

Firstly, an event held in extreme conditions with predicted heavy rain, in my opinion, should not go ahead for both the safety of patrons and staff (a duty of care). There is very limited shelter from intense heat or rain.

Secondly, On 31 January 2020 the Elton John concert was cancelled due to electrical equipment getting wet. So your statement of the concert will go ahead, rain, hail or shine is true, however when a major artist's concert is cancelled mid-way through, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Lastly, if I ordered a meal or glass of wine at Rochford would you accept only half my money? I doubt it!

Actually, I won't be back.

We visited Rochford Wines during our recent stay in Melbourne as part of a Yarra Valley wine tour. At Rochford, we tasted the cuvee, various Pinot Noirs, the Cabernet, the Estate Syrah, and another Syrah. We enjoyed a relax tasting at the wine bar, with the emphasis on most of the red wines. The group had a sit down lunch in the restaurant with a bottle of the Merlot Cabernet blend. Afterwards, there was time to explore the nice gift shop and the grounds.
