We contacted Pastor Caamal for a tour through the reserve. He did a great job and we had a terrific time. Floating down the canal was so relaxing and beautiful. This would be a great tour for anyone who is able to walk the boardwalk a long way back to the boat. We had people of all ages with us...... More

Something totally different after all the ruins. We chose to float down the ancient Mayan canal which was a fantastic experience. Our guide, Benjamin, was very good at identifying the birds we saw and explaining the ruin on the canal. We also saw a manatee and had a delightful stroll on the beach near Boca Paila before heading back to... More

Pastor took us on a guided tour through the biosphere and Muyil archeological site. He was a charming and excellent guide and very knowledgeable. As a native Mayan he had an understanding of the area and local traditions that other guides may not have. He made the trip very special for us We recommend his services highly. You can book... This was not one of the tours offered at our resort through NEXUS, but they located it for us and we are very grateful. The group was very small...my husband & I along with 3 other travelers. Muyil is a wonderful jungle site. So much of it is yet to be excavated or studied. It's still a very mysterious place.... More

Many people told us that the road to the biosphere bridge was horrible. My wife and I decided to try riding bicycles there. Which was surprising easy. The road is full of pot holes that a Jeep cannot avoid. It would be a very rough ride to drive to the biosphere. On bicycles we easily rode around the potholes. From... More

Five of us went on this tour and were hosted by our guides Valentina and Stefano. They were absolutely excellent and put together a wonderful day that we will never forget. We travelled by boat through extensive Mangrove lagoons to see manatee's and crocodiles as well as other wildlife and then out to sea to find turtles and dolphins. We... More

We accessed this site in February 2013 from the south (driving in from Mahahual). We tried to do the same thing - driving a 4-wheel-drive Jeep - this past January (2017), and it was a disaster. The road (after leaving the black-top) is almost impassible, even with the Jeep. The areas along the beach have been fenced-off, and have been... More

After research online I emailed Pastor Camaal about a two hour tour of the biosphere and booked a date during our January trip. Prior to the trip Pastor was responsive and helpful. He met us at the designated spot and provided a wonderful, informative, beautiful and fun 2-hour tour of the area. We saw beautiful scenery, birds, flowers, ruins and... More

Sian Ka'an is not the place to go if you want spectacular ruins. There are some smaller ones, but the real draw is an easy, relaxing walk through jungle growth and onto lagoons. 50 pesos for entry, 50 more to walk through the jungle (a pretty tame jungle, actually) and 600 pesos to a floating-down-the-river experience. You're taken by boat... More
