However I did read about the Monument after finding my way eventually to a Cottage at Latteridge Green. It does appear that Somerset was one of the sons of the Duke of Beaufort. According to the Author of my Cotswold Way book, the Monument dates...More

Took part in a charity walk in July and saw this in the distance. Looked like something out of a Game of Thrones set and I was delighted to see the route took us right past this. Stunning building.

This is a very impressive monument that can be seen for miles around. It is very picturesque when you get to it, although it's quite a climb on the bike!

A great monument but sadly closed and little information about it. I have been on several occasions and it is always closed.

Very impressive as you approach it. Pity you cannot climb to the top but it does make a good photograph and is visible for quite some distance.

This Mmonument or some would perhaps call Folly was erected in 1846 by Lord Somerset in commemoration of himself......It was designed and constructed by Vulliamy. It stands right on top of the escarpment and can be seen for dozens of miles around.
