The catbird restaurant is offering a set dinner under the stars. The dinner highlights native food and herbs and it is simply delicious.
Only open a few evenings during the week it is a culinary experience at the realistic price of $75 for 3 courses.
My only suggestion would be to have a way to enjoy all of the sauces that come with the food- as using my fingers is not a good look - haha

Forget the past, this Nursery has been revamped. It is an excellent place to buy natives,ie. Plants originating in the local area. I couldn't resist the Fraser Island Creeper, a Hoya and a Grevillea.
The newly opened cafe, Catbird, is wonderful. Excellent coffee, clean and modern menu for brunch. And there are croissants and pattisserie style little cakes.
I did not make it to any rainforest walk as I couldn't tear myself away from touring the yellow grevilleas on the entrance drive! Beautiful.

We used to come here as kids years ago (80s & 90s) and I was happy to see Fairhill has made a comeback in recent years. It has been at the same location in Ninderry since 1975.

Calling Fairhill a botanic gardens is a bit of a stretch - a native plant nursery with a cafe & short rainforest walk is more accurate (at this stage). There are no areas where native plants & trees are marked or tagged for example. There are some lovely flowers and plants on the grounds though and Fairhill is peaceful & relaxing and has a lot of charm with a good selection of native plants in the nursery (though mum, a keen gardener, said the current selection was quite commonplace).

I would recommend a visit to walk through the grounds and grab brunch at the cafe which is perfectly located amongst the tranquil gardens. The coffee is good too.

Our friends brought us to have a look at the native plant nursey and to see the rainforest nature trail. Apparently these gardens, which cover over 8 hectares, have been here since 1975 but gradually fell into decline until new owners took over in 2021 and commenced to refurbish and reinvigorate the gardens.

It appears that the native plant nursery, the cafe and the seating and play areas have received their initial attention. The plant nursery had a vast amount of plants that were very well displayed.

The catbird cafe served good coffee, had an impressive range of cakes and slices, many of which were gluten free, as well as some interesting menu selections. There was plenty of undercover seating and a grassed area where some games, including quoits, were set up. Staff were very pleasant.

After having a quick bite to eat we set off to walk the nature trail. The lady in the nursery had said that there was a huge amount of work to be done to get it back to something like how it used to look and she was not wrong. It is though an excellent example of how rainforest can totally takeover if left unattended. I wish them good luck with this aspect of the refurbishment and will look to return over the coming years to monitor progress.

It is excellent once again. The Catbird Cafe inside the Fairhill Gardens Nursey has opened again with new staff and it is just excellent. We had the best Cappuccinos that we have had in a very long time. Beautifully made and delicious. We only wanted coffees this visit but the range of cakes and slices looked amazing so we want to go back again and try their food. The staff were so friendly and attentive too and toilets onsite as well so everything is very convenient. An excellent visit.

My request was simple - please remove the bacon and pop whatever is convenient to you in the sourdough roll to replace it - Cheese? Avocado? Cabbage? I’m not fussy.
Nope, not without an additional charge. Can’t take the bacon off the and replace it with anything else without charging the ‘side’ charge for literally whatever the cafe chooses to put in as a replacement - poor form! 100% won’t be back. Only 2 other couples there, you weren’t too busy to oblige you were just greedy.

Hi Alex, thanks so much for your feedback. Being newly opened we welcome all feedback so we can improve. We've spoken with our chef and are now offering a vegetarian option for the Egg & Bacon Roll, and it's proving very popular. Kind regards and thanks again!

Forget any old reviews - 2022 brand new - must have taken months of sheer hard labour to clear and make the place shine again as it was sadly run down before.
This is a testament to re-vamping and making something better than it was on its prime.
I almost don’t want people to rediscover this beautiful haven away from crowds, beautiful songbirds and surrounded by native trees.
Plenty of parking - loads and loads of native trees, bushes etc with staff that really know their plants - so refreshing.
Old & young, small happy dogs and families enjoy the new café menu - tables & chairs with shade or full sun make for a calm relaxing setting.
Café staff chirpy and friendly - just a pleasure.
If you want a taste of a little local neighbour then this is the café for you. Eat in or take away café. Menu is innovative & fresh - beautiful coffees & teas.
French raspberry & Almond tart is stunning.

We’ve recently found the 10 Acres Sourdough Bread ( delicious) so keen to try other delicacies decided to visit the cafe at Fairhill Botanical Gardens. Although arriving early Sunday morning, there were already 2 large tables of happy customers. Hard to decide what to order but when the almond croissant and the pear and raspberry tart arrived, we were not disappointed! The Padre coffee hit the mark too. Very friendly staff and prompt service.
Plenty of seating, both undercover and outside near the plants. Outdoor lawn area with games for kids to play.
Amazing nursery with healthy Australian native plants, very reasonably priced too.

Fairhill has boasted the most amazing botanical gardens for two decades. We’ve bought hundreds of plants there over the years, inspired by the seasonal show. It then transitioned into a period of decline. New owners moved in a couple of months ago and ITS BACK! It’s still a project in the making but on the whole it has the original vibe, the plants are showcased and it’s inspirational.
