What a beautiful place, even though the weather wasn't great you could really appreciate the variety and amount of plants here. And things were labeled if you were interested in knowing the names. The orchid house was stunning. Unfortunately when we went the cactus house...More

Great place to visit and worth the trip. Wear comfy shoes and try to go when it's not super hot. Beautiful garden. Huge and varied. Plan to spend 2-4 hours but be prepared just to wonder around. I found the orchid house to be especially...More

For those interested in trees and flowers their collection is very good with signs explaining some of the species. For those that just want a relaxing place to take a stroll it is also very nice.

Kandy is the city in Sri Lanka that most reminded me of India – hectic and dirty and polluted with no sense of urban planning. So, what a relief to find this beautiful botanic garden. There are lovely orchid and cactus houses, and the gardens...More

A beautiful place to spend a few hours. A small orchid house, really large mature trees mainly labelled so you know what they are. Many spice trees and colourful gardens. But the best bit are the hundreds of fruit bats flying around.

Great place to see if you are in Kandy. I can only recommend to be there as soon as possible in the morning, so you can enjoy the first hour almost alone. The highlights are : - The giant bats which are nesting in the...More

The botanical garden was astonishingly beautiful. It is the manifestation of Sri Lanka's rich and fertile "flora". There is plenty to see, and you can walk around for hours, so make sure you have water with you and a hat.

You could spend a day here if you like plants and flowers. Otherwise a half day is nice to get a good look around. The Golf cart is good to hire for an hour as you get to see the whole area.

Hi Everyone, is there extra cost for the buggies or carts that ply inside? How many people can they sit at a time? Do they have any fixed timing or available all the time?

Yes. There is a charge and for us the time limit was one hour. We had the large cart...I think 7-8 people could fit in nicely. Heard there are smaller carts too.
