We booked this cooking course while in Crete for Easter. A group of 10 in total from Ireland, England, USA, Germany, Greece. 5 hours of good conversation, sharing experiences, drinking wine and preparing dinner under the watchful eye of Mrs Koula. Mrs Koula is a very interesting host with excellent English and a lovely way about her. Would definitely recommend... More

Our family of 4 attended Mrs Koula's cooking lesson as we are all passionate about Greek food and in particular the Cretan cuisine. Mrs Koula is a great teacher and the experience was truly amazing. We prepared several dishes under Koula's instructions. This was a hands on lesson and part of the beautiful experience of sharing a kitchen and putting... More

We visited Chania this winter and spent a lovely afternoon with Koula learning to cook Cretan dishes. We came with two of our children, ages 21 and 11 and the four of us felt very comfortable in Koula's kitchen. We all participated in cooking while enjoying conversation with Koula, learning a lot about food an life in Crete. We then... More

Koula Barydakis is not only a well known cookbook author and Greek chef, but she is also an incredible teacher. The day begins with an intro to the diet of Crete and the Mediterranean (including the delicious wild picked herbs). Then the cooking begins. My wife and I helped as we learned how to make zucchini fritters, lamb with the... More

Mrs Koula is very good with her teaching techniques and english is excellent from living in Canada for close to 20 years. She selected an excellent menu, but there was a lot of food for just four of us students. Didn't apply to us but she can do vegetarian meals, if required. Our menu had lamb with beans in tomato... Listen, I'm not really into cooking. I'm pretty much salad and dessert girl. But my two friends were and I'm glad we did this. The location is so beautiful, especially as the night progresses and Chef Koula Barydakis is an amazing woman with a wonderful life story. We were also blessed that we shared the lesson with a wonderful extended... More

These cooking lessons looked fabulous on TripAdvisor and I really wanted to go there but after several phone calls, even messages without reply I decided to drive there - Vamos is a lovely little town up in the mountains - and see what was available. The reception at the ´Tourist Office' was far from friendly, even very rude, first time... More

We would like to thank dorinegevel for taking the time to write a review. There was only ONE phone call and ONE voice message in our answering machine at 09:04 on that Monday morning. Our office opens at 10:00 and from that hour until mrs dorinegevel came by the office (at around 11:00) the reception was very busy with checking... More

Often when traveling we try to take a cooking class. It’s a great experience and a souvenir that broadens your recipe repertoire back home while reminding your of your holiday every time you cook what you learnt. Crete, as a major tourist destination that is also especially renowned for excellent food has plenty of cooking class options. From the truck-load... More

We had a wonderful time in the cooking class. In fact, it was our favorite part of the trip to Greece. The food was spectacular and the experience in cooking with a native Cretan was priceless. If we come back to Crete, this would definitely be on our list again!

What a lovely experience we had. Koula is warm, efficient and calm and manages to get everyone to participate. The location was charming and felt authentic and the food was delicious. I have been making the recipes ever since I got back. Highly recommend this lovely lady.
