    Very Good beach
The beach was amazing, there are some concessions where you can get food, sunbeds etc but most of the beach is free. Wide expanses of clean sand. The road leading to the beach was good, and scenic. We parked (free) at the the edge of the beach, there was ample space, and we just walked to a pot of the beach, laid down our towels and had a dip. Later we had an ice-cream at a restaurant on the beach. Amazing day

    Top class
Amazing beech with top class cocktails. People complain about price of sunbeds & drinks. But good valve for money considering the location. Crystal clear waters you could spend the day here.

    Great Beach with Beautiful Sunsets
Spectacular beach with beautiful, clean water. Great big area with plenty of lounges for everyone. If you like sunsets. this is the place to be on Crete. We stayed in Chania and drove to the Falassarna Beach. Easy drive, good roads and they have refreshments and a restaurant right at the beach. A must see beach when you're on the island of Crete - definitely a top 10 beach in all of Greece.

    A gem for the adventurous
We stayed just 10 minutes from Falassarna and therefore enjoyed a few different trips to the sea. Each day was slightly different, there was nearly always some sort of breeze with gusts sometimes too that hammered sand into the backs of your legs. But it is blissful solitude in comparison to the other well known beaches on the island and we always had it to ourselves each time, in early May. We snorkelled, swum and enjoyed the quiet - it was just us and the fish. I can understand people saying it’s not great for families and children because of the waves which get up sometimes but that makes it great for adults who don’t want the noise. Would absolutely recommend to adults/adventurers/travellers over the way too touristy and people-ridden Elafonisi and Balos.

    A beach for any occasion.
The road down to Falassarna beach reveals how long the beach is. There are various ways to reach the beach from south to north. The peninsula at the northern end flanks the archaeological site of the old port. It is reached by a rough track. There are rocky places where pink sand my be visible and snorkeling is possible. A small number of hotels have now been added, also some very good tavernas, one of which is near the windsurfing centre. (Wind can sometimes be a sandblasting problem)! Deres Horse Riding Center provides a complete experience of the riding, sunset, and evening meal - at a cost! Sunloungers and parasols are available in a number of locations. Sunsets depend on weather, but are usually fabulous.

Beautiful sandy beach with clear, turquoise water
We chose to take the long drive to Falassarna from the beautiful online pictures as we were already in Chania for the day having driven from our Rehtymno hotel. So first the maps app gave us directions to the wrong beach and maybe it is also called Falassarna but it was right in the Chania town. The real Falassarna beach was an hour out and it had stunning turquoise water. The parking is close by with a short walk (5”) to beach. There are sun beds and umbrellas for 30 euro (2 lounges and an umbrella). We brought our own towels and umbrella and it was not good because the gusts of wind were powerful and relentless for hours. Around 4pm the offshore winds lessened. There was plenty of room to put up umbrellas and lots of people doing so. The smart ones had stakes and strings to tie down the edges of their umbrella and their umbrellas didn’t budge. We had to lay ours diagonally and sit with our backs against the inside of the umbrella to get the shade it provided at this angle. At any rate, the water is clear and gorgeous and has some waves, but not big waves that we see in California (thankfully). I enjoy floating around and not having to worry about keeping an eye out for big waves to decide whether I have to swim toward it and go under it or what. Just floating around worry free is what it’s like at Falassarna and the water gradually gets deep though I can still touch the bottom with and I am 5’5”. Water temp was lovely and easy to get into unlike some Crete beaches we visited where it was distinctly cooler water. There are several restaurants at the beach on the sand. Showers, bathrooms, and changing stalls.

Beautiful calm beach with crystal clear water
This is a long sandy beach with very clear and calm waters, accessible by an easy one hour drive from Chania. Very beautiful and inviting. There are several beach clubs renting cabanas with lounge chairs, and a waters sports hut in the middle of the beach offering windsurfing, paddle boarding, and wing foiling. It’s busy, but felt more spacious and pleasant than Ellafonisi. The parking lot is right behind the beach, which seems to get less busy as you move further up to the right.

    My favorite beach in Crete
If you are planning to visit falasarna beach make sure that on your way from Chania you should make a stop at jumbo store to buy an umbrella and maybe sunbed or anything else you may want for the beach at good prices because the prices to rent two beds and an umbrella at the beach it's 30 euros. Also have in mind that the Mini Markets at the area Close before 10 o'clock. The prices to order drinks or food from your sunbed are regular so no complaint there. If you are going for just a day spend the 30 euro and enjoy the comfy beds and service but for more days it's too expensive. The views are amazing and I suggest your book to stay somewhere near for the night instead of going back to Chania. You will thank me later.

Have driven there today and driven more or less straight away. We have been coming her for years for one of days out while on Crete. Wow what a
change. This used to be a fabulous stretch of sandy beach with a few rows of sun beds and a small cafe
area. Now there are maybe over 1000
sun beds all in rows close together,
area where they seem to hire out bean bags, guys on buggies screetch around and there are 1000's of cars, the cafe is a sprawling mass of stools, tables, tents, all very trendy I suppose. Oh and thumping loud music wherever you choose to go on the beach. We arrived at around 2.30p. The guy wanted to charge 12.00euros for 2 Sun beds for a couple of hours in the afternoon, total rip off. We feel really upset as this place has changed beyond recognition. Avoid if your are looking for a quiet restful day on the beach.

It is said that Falassarna beach is in the top 10 most beautiful beaches of Europe and the best one in Crete, and it deserves it's place in the top.
We only went there once, after visiting other beaches of Crete, and we loved spending an entire day there. It is not only the large beach and the nice sea and the sunset that impressed us, but also all the facilities offered. 2 sunbeds and umbrella cost 15 eur and you could order a large variety of drinks, snacks that will be delivered fresh and fast directly on the beach from the bar/restaurant that is 200 m far. At the restaurant you can enjoy a variety of Mediterranean, Italian food, served impeccably. Everything is very clean, well maintained, you have all the ingredients for spending a perfect day at the beach. The fact that you can only get there by car is a plus, because it doesn't make it look like a very crowded beach, as it does with the ones where ships are anchoring and thousands of tourists are getting on/off.

Fine, soft sand, clear blue water and free public parking. Beach chair rental is from 10€-30€ for a pair of loungers and food and drinks may be served if you wish (fairly reasonable prices too). Beach staff are cool and professional. Lifeguard on duty. My favorite beach in Crete. Beware, it can be very windy and waves can be powerful.

We visited this beach during our visit to Chania. Sandy beach with beautiful, crystal clear water. Little bit of surf here both days, but very nice. The food at the beach club was great. We had the prosciutto pizza and the burger and both were great. Front row beds had a 300eur minimum spend, so we took second row for 50eur. Nice cigar selection too.

To be in the top 10 beaches in Europe, or even top 100, you need to work with and focus on environmental and sustainable aspects. Mixing all garbage, allow smoking in the sun bed area and not cleaning up litter from guests making it ending up in the sea, is not 4 or 5 star beach. All food and beverage is delivered from the restaurant to the sun beds with four-whealers which creates a lot of disturbing noise and bad smell. Also the jet ski center should move to the outskirts, the risk is high that some tourists collides with people swimming.

The sand is more gravel than sand.

Positive is free parking, free ammendities, clear water and nice waves. Also the mountain view is spectacular.

This beach is stunning; the colour of the water (light blue and turquoise) just blows your mind and it has a huge coastline. The main Falassarna beach can get busy and there are water sports, sunbeds and a great cafe available. You can also go to the smaller Falassarna which is a 5 minute drive North, which is also nice but can also get busy. My partner and I are not huge fans of accessible/touristy beaches but this one is an exception; we had a great time here.

I’ve visited this beautiful beach twice in the past. Both times over 10 years ago but each time it was very windy with huge waves. Yesterday went there already with our children and the wind was somewhat moderate so we absolutely loved it!!!!!! It’s a long totally beautiful turquoise water beach. The only sad thing I notice like everywhere - people who leave plastics packages, bottles, cigarette butts lying on the sand. PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!!!! Move your ass and throw things to the garbage bin and if the bin is full - don’t be too lazy to get your garbage with you till you find another bin. Don’t be that lazy and that stupid. Don’t spoil the beautiful nature!!!

We spent a day at Falassarna beach as we wanted to get off from hotel beach for a day. As we were a bit afraid, that the Island's top 3 beaches might be just too overcrowded, we decided for Falassarna. To say from the beginning it is not a small and secluded place. However, there was modern shower facilities and lots of chairs and sunbeds to be rented for a day. We took a daybed in the first row next to the beach which we really enjoyed. The price for a day was with 30,- EUR not even a bargain. Once we got to the sea I totally forgot about the price - perfect clean water, crystal clear, nice sand.... could have been Malibu ;-) It was a great day there. We stayed even till sunset as it is the west coast and I expected to see the sun going down into the sea. At that time the place was not crowded anymore and we really enjoyed the scenery and the atmosphere.

An absolutely stunning beach! We drove an hour from Chania and it was more than worth it, paid €20 for cushioned sun beds but there all different types to pick from (can hire cabanas for around €40 euros). We walked further to the right of the beach and found it was much quieter with lots of spare beds around us which was great. There is also a waiter that comes round to take food and drinks orders which is all delivered to your sunbed - loads of choice too.
I cannot emphasise enough how beautiful the water is to swim in, a bit chilly at first but fine once you’re in!
One thing to note is the wind, definitely avoid on a windy day. We came on a day with a normal level of wind and even that was pretty windy, definitely tolerable though and they have wind breakers ( the area we sat in didn’t get have them up ).

A perfect beach day in my opinion :-)

Falassarna beach is a rather beautiful wide beach with fine-grained sand close to Kissamos city (not worth visiting). As for the natural part: the water, the sand the location next to the dunes - really is beautiful and wortwhwhile. The only reason a point deduction was done are the man-built facilities. The parking spaces seems very improvised and the cafes and restaurant look and feel makeshift. So while nature has done everything to provide Falassarna Beach visitors with a beautiful day, the people running the facilities in and around it, could do a little better.
