We had a guided tour here. This is a very large site and I recommend a guided tour. We learned a lot and preferred this site over many of the other sites since it was very well preserved.

A great place about 35 to 40 minutes by car from Kalamata. Ancient Messini is an area with stadium, temple and a lot more to see. A village is next to it so afterwards you can rest, eat or drink something.

I think this site is not so visited because of its location. I visited the well known sites of Greece, but I was so impressed by the stadium, the asclepion and the theatre. The site is large, we spent three hours to explore every stone!...More

Well preserved archaeological site, with a stadium, theatre and many more. You shouldn't miss it! Been there for a theatrical performance and it was just amazing!

We visited Ancient Messini as a family and we were all amazed at how extensive and well preserved the site is. The amphitheatre and stadium were fabulous. EU citizens and student entry is €6 so take your ID.

This is one of the most impressive and least visited sites in Greece because of its physical isolation. Its only access from the Sparta direction is by tiny one lane roads over the mountains that surround it. It was built after the Spartans were defeated...More

We travelled around the Peloponnese looking at ruins and ancient sites (plus a fair few beaches) but this one was easily the best. We arrived at 9am and only one other couple was there. A little ticket booth manned by three friendly people sold us...More

This site was much larger than we expected, so that was a nice surprise. The people who inhabited this area were very sophisticated and artistic. I loved how close we were able to get to the structures. It was a much more hands on experience...More

By and large a marvellously preserved Roman anfitheatre and stadium in a great position with spanning view over the sea. The acoustic is perfect and is not crowded. It is a very very big place, wear comfortable shoes and take a hat.
