You can taste the cooking madeira wines for free, but for the real experience the tasting room in the shop offers a low cost tasting of the older and better wines. The 15 year old, 20 year old and single vintage wines are just a...More

Stopped here as part of a half day tour. Not much to look at but it was quite interesting to look at all the barrels and see how old they were.

Not a winery, but a place where their Madeira wines are stored and aged in oak barrels. They started making wine in 1850. The staff was very help and knowledgeable in answering questions and explaining there wines. You get 3 free, very good tastes.

Attractive space, smells lovely, well laid out with clear information. Somewhat spoilt by what I can only describe as snotty staff, one of whom shrieked at us when one of our party put too much wine in their shot glass. Woman behind the shop counter...More

We went to taste and buy wine. We tried the 15 year old wines and my wife liked the strongly wooded style which reminded her of whisky.
