At the aquarium you can learn about the Lofoten cod - or Skrei: Skrei is the name of the east Atlantic cod that migrate from the Barents Sea to Lofoten every winter to spawn. Check out the skrei aquarium room when visiting us. Within our tanks, you can also study most other species of fish, crustaceans and marine animals found in the waters around Lofoten. One of the highlights of your visit will be feeding the seals and otters, who live in outdoor pools near the Aquarium entrance. The Lofoten Aquarium additionally features photo- and art-exhibitions and films, a souvenir shop, and a cafe where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and excellent views.

We visited this place with 5 and 7 years-old girls and they really liked the place. We were lucky to come there when it was feeding time for the seals and otters. Seals were for sure the best attraction of this place. Also the sightseeing place above was great. A good place to visit if you have small children.

We spent an hour looking round this small aquarium, on combined ticket (with museum and art exhibition - aquarium was best value!). Interesting to see fish live that we were being presented in restaurants, as we're not fishermen. However had to work hard to work out what I was looking at in some tanks, and there were no English notes... More

The Lofoten Aquarium is part of the Skrei (COD) Experience, a three venue location also including a history and art museum. I highly recommend buying the ticket that gets you into all three. They are all great. Overall, this aquarium was really well done. Everything there had English signage. Much better than the history museum. There is an outdoor exhibit... More

We saw all kinds of ordinary fish like cod etc. Great fun. Some fish were beautiful and some fish amazingly ugly. Also some information on the salmongrowing industry. Go there!

The Lofoten Aquarium displays various species, most of them with can be found in the area and the sea around the north of Norway. The various containers show varius species, and the level of diseases and scars on fish differs between the cabinets. The largest aquarium containers, hosting species like pollock, cod, halibut and others appeared OK without visible signs... More

It is 8 years since I was here, and was a little disappointed that there was not much changes since my last visit. It is educational for the kids, and they loved the seals. Ok attraction for the family.

There were quite a lot of different fish in the aquarium, and I liked the idea of showing the species living in the Lofoten area. However, I would have liked to see more information about the fish in English. And I couldn't help being a bit sad that the fish were living in such limited spaces. We also saw the... More

Lofotakvariet has a good variety of different types of fish and shellfish indiginous to the area. At noon, there's a feeding of the seals and otters in the pools outside of the aquarium. When we were there, the person feeding the seals, told us briefly about the different seals and otters - however, only in Norwegian. It's a small aquarium,... More

Being in one the most superior places in the world for cod fishing and other deep sea fishing, this museum has a lot of potential, but fails to impress. Located on a nice venue just by the sea outside the capital of the Lofoten islands, I was suprised the collection of fish was not large, updated and modernized. Where are... More

Thank you for your feedback. At the Lofoten Aquarium our goal is to display marine wildlife along the coast of Lofoten, where average size fish is more representative than the record breakers. In addition, our current facilities are not of an adequate size to display larger species since animal welfare is our number one priority. As we continuously strive to... More
