- Traveller162014Leeds, United Kingdom979 contributionsPretty SpecialI'd 100% recommend coming here if you're in Koh Samui. I actually walked the steepest hill I've ever encountered climbing up to it. Most people were more sensible and rode a Tuk Tuk up to it, but I fancied the challenge. The views from the top are AMAZING. I bought myself a coconut from the woman at the top too. Definitely would recommend. Be careful though - it's a long way dowwwn.Visited November 2022Travelled soloWritten 5 January 2023
- theparentpassportLondon, United Kingdom81 contributionsAmazing natural sight but tourist trap and could be improved* note our reviews are travelling with our 9 month old baby daughter We visited the Overlap Stones yesterday. Firstly it is a magnificent view and you will get a fantastic set of pictures however you should note the following: 1. The drive to the stones is very steep so make sure your car or moped has the strength to cope with over 45 degree slopes 2. On arrival there is a cheesy parking area and shop. You will be charged 100baht per person if you park here 3. You then need to climb around hundred steps to reach the stones. These vary from concrete to wood and then dirt so wear good footwear. 4. At the top you will be charged a further 50 baht per person. 5. You then queue for your chance to walkout on the walkway and stand with the stones to take pictures. Note that you are limited to 3 mins!! Overall, I love the pics but question if the pics are worth the experience sometimes. If you have a spare hour why not but would not advise with young children.Visited February 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 January 2023
- Nikki M10 contributionsA Koh Samui must and not the usual rip off pricesFor us the best Koh Samui experience. We walked all the way up,which is doable if you go early morning. At point 1 you pay 100 baht and get a free drink, there is another 50 baht at the summit of Stone 1. You get 3 mins of stone to yourself to take the obligatory pics, which is plenty of time. There is a Stone 2 another 200 metres of non flip flop wearing jungle terrain to climb but for us an absolute must. The lovely little man there will charge you 20 baht to clamber over a bamboo bridge to reach the best view ever. Don't rely on him for a photo as he forgets to press the right button, or it maybe that we asked him whilst he was eating a banana. Overall an experience never to be forgotten....do it !Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 February 2023
- kyleLagos, Portugal3 contributionsRead thisIf you’re ever in koh samui and want to visit this viewpoint make sure you know this before hand: there is 2 overlap stones, they used to both be owned by the same owner (old man which owned the land) but eventually he needed the money and sold half the land, now the 1st one is owned by a group of people trying to make good cash with the tourists, (200baht to see the rock plus parking fee), the overlap stone 2 which is right at the top, still owned by the old man is free of parking, and 20 baht to enter the viewpoint, he just stays there the hole day all by himself waiting for people too arrive (which many don’t go because they don’t know about it). This overlap stone 2 is up the very top of the road and can drive up (not for every one) and park right next to the viewpoint. Hope this helps someone :)Visited March 2023Travelled soloWritten 23 March 2023

I wasn’t going to go up there but so glad I did. The views are spectacular. Not sure about the other reviews on the cost of entry fee it is advertised as 20baht and that’s what we paid per person. Lots of new steps going up to the stone and a walk way to view all brand new. If your not fit then you will struggle as from the car park up it is very steep with lots of steps. Get a free drink on the way down.

I read a lot of comments that the entry is 20 bat, that the new prices are 200 per person. However, the view is amazing but it’s not worth to pay 200 for 15 or 20 minutes. If we don’t, was it the area, they have to lower the entry price. We are deciding how much we will pay.

We arrived at the car park where we passed 3 signs which all stated 20baht per person entry fee. When we parked at the top, we were advised it was now 200 baht per person. We are a family of 4 with 2 young children. When we asked how much it would be for our 9 year old, they just advised that she must pay the adult price. 800 baht in total. We didn't pay or go to the very top as we had been to many other view points which looked similar and couldn't justify the cost.

I was not going to write a review, but all the info online seems confusing and perhaps a little outdated. There have been a lot of changes at Overlap Stone (1) in the last few months.
We visited in August 2023 and the drive up is fine for a car or a skilled bike rider. We parked in the main parking area next to the entry. On arrival, you pay 200 Baht and this gives you entry to the viewpoint and a soft drink or water.
The owners have spent considerable funds to get the site to meet safety standards.
They have constructed stone steps to get the main stairs, making it much easier to walk up the very steep hill. There are also a couple of rest spots and then wooden stairs, with handrails to the top. There are quite a few to cover, so avoid the middle of the day when it's super hot. They have also built new toilets.
There is no extra fee when you reach the top, and no one keeping time. Stay as long as you like.
There is a sign to say no drones (fines apply) but this was being ignored on our visit.
Some may say the development has ruined it and it was lovely when it was rustic and less popular, but the view is as lovely as ever and the site is much more accessible.
Once you leave, you can continue up to the Overlap Stone 2 via a very steep road and pay just 20 baht to see it. There is a rickety bamboo bridge, but the stone itself is not as impressive in my view and it access is not that safe. Unless you love hiking, I wouldn't bother.

Looking at the pictures before we went I was a little let down but I was glad I went the view from the stone was amazing
There is no bridge to walk over onto the stone its ladders to climb and we went on a windy day I felt like j was going to blown over the edge aha , not for the faint hearted or people with walking difficulties
It's quite a climb to get to the stone itself this includes steep slopes and stair ways

Good to visit, however the 200 baht entrance fee makes it not worth visiting. Way too high of a entrance fee for what you see, there is still alot of construction work going on. 10 minutes here was enough.

Don't get ripped off. Before you get to the correct parking area, that should cost 20 baht, there is a parking area with shop who will charge you 200 baht to then walk a hell of a long way, to then have to pay 50 baht again to see the stone. We never got to the stone as the steepness of the roads scared my wife. Others we were in the car park with, did then carry on to the 'correct' parking. I don't mind paying a small fee to both park and to visit private site, but this lower park, that calls itself overlap stone park 2, is a blatant ripoff. Be warned folks.

Really cool. If you can get dropped of at the upper carpark, it makes the walk alot easier. Don't make the mistake of thinking the second one is the main one and walking up too it (what a mission)
