Quite disappointed
Mar. 2021 • Family
So we visited the lodge back in 2009 and from what we can remember, we had a great time but this time was different. The accommodations are amazing with outside shower and bath, and the staff very friendly. But thats about it. Food not great, bar was out of stock of most things. Game drive.... really bad. Lions are apart from other animals and "caged" no giraffes, 2 elephants, 2 hippos and loads of springbok. Also there were no other activities for the kids except the pool.

Great experience! The guides a very solicitous to show all of the interesting animals that the property has to show. Even the weather was not that good, it was great.

We have just had a 2 night stay, this place is amazing, staff, location, setting, they found out it was our honeymoon and on the 1st night decorated our room and bed with rose petals a card and chocolates, the manager DJ could not do enough giving us a private room for a romantic evening meal, will definitely be returning to this place, great team very helpfull and very professional guides.

Three of us took a midday game drive, absolutely loved it! Hannes our Game Driver, was so knowledgeable and very friendly and funny! I couldn’t recommend this place anymore, a must see. The animals all looked really well even though we know that they’re struggling with a drought at the moment. Well done to everyone involved in the Game Lodge, superb job. 👏🏻👏🏻

Day visitor game drive
As a whole the experience was nice we saw elephants, lions several types of antelope, and cheetahs they dont have a giraffe anymore but we were only told about that when one of the other visitors asked about a giraffe.
We werent impressed with the guide he was "next on the list" when a female guide was requested for a later game drive. he drove like a miniac my husband kids and i were flying all over the place.
Very abrupt and rude when answering questions about the animals.
According to the website the tour was supposed to be 2-3 hours. He barely gave us enough time to take photos of the animals and then he drove off we were back way before 2 hours were over.We hung around for a while and still didnt see the other guides come back with their visitors yet..

The sad part is we had a family from abroad along with us on the land rover and they had to experience such poor service from the guide.

Im sure if we had another guide the game drive would be a much better experience.

We would like to visit again soon the fact that some animals are rescued from terrible circumstances is a nice touch.

Quick safari
Dec. 2019
The three-hour day safari is a nice way to spend a midday break. We were lucky to see the cheetahs enjoying their kill from the morning. The rhinoceroses were right up to the vehicle but the lions were a bit more laid back. Our guide was very knowledgeable (and keen-eyed).
It was a bit different from my first visit eight years ago. Last time the giraffes, white lions and buffaloes were also part of the experience, but I suppose one cannot relive old times

Day safari

We came here for a 2 hour safari on our way back to Cape Town from Plettenberg. It’s around 4 hours drive from Cape Town, or 2 hours from Plett.
Reception staff are very accommodating and helpful.
Our safari guide Martel was very knowledgeable and tried her best to look for the animals and gave us a good experience. She also answered all our questions and gave us ample of time to take photographs.
We saw the elephants, rhinos, hippos, lions, antelopes, cheetahs and lots of antelopes and other animals, unfortunately we did not see the giraffes since it has been relocated to another place due to the ongoing drought.
We visited on a Sunday and they have a much cheaper rate which was a bonus.
There’s a restaurant in sight and their food was good and affordable.
Overall, it was a great day out!
