If you have to pick one beach to visit in the area, make sure it’s Glyka Nera. We walked from Loutro and the path is quite easy with great views and other nice spots to swim towards the end. Glyka Nera is the perfect ending....More

This is a lovely beach. However, it is really busy at this time of year which does detract a bit. Lots of tents pitched at the back of the beach meaning that you can’t sit under those trees even if there is no one in...More

Walking here from Loutro is well worth the effort. The trail takes some effort, but get an early start before the sun starts hammering down heavy punches, and you'll be ok. Half the beach is for naturists, but the section closer to the little taverna...More

For the second year in a row we hiked between Loutro and Chora Sfakion on the E4 trail and spent an afternoon at Sweetwater Beach. The water is crystal clear and cooler than the other beaches due to the fresh spring water mixing with the...More

This is definitely one of the coolest bays in Crete. Unique atmosphere and outstanding quality of the sea water. Unique phenomenon of drinking water into the sea, close to the coast. The tavern-canton located there Is charging a lot, and they give no receipt.

Only 10 minutes away from Chora Sfakion is Glyka Nera bay, a virgin beach with amazing cold water and a superb small tavern with excellent food and raki. Highly recommended !!

We went quite early in the morning (we arrived around 10:30) and it was wise, since at that point the beach was still almost empty and we could pick the spot we preferred. An umbrella with two beach loungers comes at 6.50€ per day, even...More

We took the regular ferry departing 11:00 am from Loutro and the ride costs 4 EUR one way. You an return to Loutro at 17:00 pm or to Hora Sfakia at 17:30 pm. The beach was perfect for couples or families with children. Because of...More
