The thing I love about Icelandic beaches, is that they are all different and all made up of different materials. I dare to say it’s all of volcanic origin, but different consistencies and textures. Skardsvik, upon initial view, looks just like a tan sand beach.....More

Stop stop of paved road for those with small rentals not wanting to breach their insurance. Nice walk to the lighthouse/well at Öndveröames, the path for which is not so obvious the beginning. Head in the general direction and look for the cairns.

Located on small road through lava flow within national park. Nice surf. Basalt columns. Lava rock mollusks. Nice breeze. Wander around for 45 minutes

This rare white sand beach in Iceland is enveloped by dramatic, basaltic black cliffs. When we were there on a windy day in June, the surf was pounding dramatically in a gorgeous turquoise blue hue. Gorgeous place to visit!

skardsvik beach has golden colored sand surrounded by basalt cliffs. A great place to stop, picnic, and enjoy the sounds and sights of nature. Plenty of places to park so find one that suits you.
