We were all alone the day we wandered around the ruins, imagining what it must have been like to live there 2,000 years ago, marveling at the building skills of those long-ago stone masons, and at the fact that some of their structres, like the...More

Being curious, we went to Paestum for the day. Yes very informative, smaller than Pompeii, the archaeology work is also active. It's not much to see, but the ruins of the temples almost complete give a better explanation than the ruins in Pompeii. My wife...More

Great opportunity to explore a site with remains of ancient Greece, Rome and then the medieval ruins above. Lovely views as well of the Cilento park and coastline.

We went here on our way through on a cycling trip, and were glad we did. The whole site is huge, with areas still being excavated and explored, so the offerings here will continue to grow over time. Having said that, what we saw was...More

A really wonderful archaeological site to visit in 2 hours. Atmospheric, with great views from the tower. Took so many photos of the beautiful gate (Porta Rosa). We visited in very early June, and it was already hot, so bring water and wear a hat.

Velia or Elea as it is called by both names is extremely easy to find on the main road through Ascea. Parking is free and there appeared to be plenty of spaces. at the entrance you also find a small gift shop where I would...More

It's difficult to imagine a quality sites circumstance more affordable than the dual ticket of Paestum and Velia. Between the two reasonably proximate wonders of ancient Grecia Magna remains (covered on different days as there is so much at each), we gained much insight into...More
