Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

I hired an e bike for two weeks with these guys instead of a scooter. It got me to most places and I have to say I’m impressed and a convert! I was based in Lamai and I took the bike to Chaweng and back a couple of times, and a couple of times I used it to explore the island’s south. Pretty solid and speedy machines and for safety, environmental, insurance and practicality reasons, it was great. They can’t go everywhere though. I reckon you could try and get round the island, but be mindful the battery might not last that far and you might need to ask a bar or cafe for a top up half way round. If you want to explore the hilltops, perhaps reconsider, as they won’t get you up those hills (nor will some scooters mind you)... but it got over the hill between Chaweng and Lamai. Convenient? Yes... little get abouts ok, but a scooter doesn’t need charging, just fuel, which is easier. Hot tip: charge at every opportunity - you never know how far you want to go. If you’re not sure about these e bikes, try it for a day or so. You might be as surprised as I was. Plus Al is a cool guy who is very reasonable and easy to deal with.

This was my first time using an electronic bicycle and I absolutely loved it. The staff was kind enough to explain to us how it works and answered any questions that we had. They also gave us safety helmets and safety vests witch was the first time happened to us in Asia. The bikes were in excellent condition. They have a basket in the front for all your stuff and the battery in the back that can be removed and charged at a bar or restaurant.
The roads on the island felt safe during the entire trip that we did, despite all the traffic. And the bikes ran smoothly the whole way.
Overall the service was amazing, the staff was helpful and nice, the bikes were in good condition.
It is a relaxing and affordable way to get around the island and I would highly recommend it.

Thanks Mina ! Wow, glad you enjoyed it. We've stepped our maintenance right up & the bikes are super reliable for sure ! There has been many people going all the way around the island !! We want to improve the service more with new products & staff. Also, I have moved the "Google Pin" to the exact location (for previous customer) which was only 30m way from previous location (OMG customers are so funny). Thanks for your support !

This is with out a doubt the best trip I have taken in Thailand. The tours are well organised and great value for money. The fact that the bikes are electric and very quite enhance the experiences and the stunning sounds of the Thai Jungle are highlighted. I will definitely be back.

Highly recommended especially if you are afraid to drive a bike. We had no issues with booking (it was done via website) and using the bicycles.

The Bicycle is a good and sporty way to explore the island and much saver than bikes. I really enjoyed myself and i think it's a really good thing to rent a bicycle in ko samui. However 2 days isn't enough, 4-5 days would have been better.
The price was about 5 euros per day which is very good in my opinion.
4 facts i did not like:
1. The shop was quite hard to find and it's quite a way to go there if u stay in the busy areas like chaweng. Also on google maps the location is wrongly shown and therefore confusing
2. The shop closes at 5pm meaning that you need to bring back the bicycle at 5pm (and therefore return from your spot at about 3-4pm and waste half a day)
3. I tried to contact the shop prior arrival by emails and facebook and never got a response till today (only calling was successful)
4. The brakes of the bicycle did not work very well (actually quite dangerous)
All in all i would still recommend the shop and i really think using a bicycle on the island is great and its a pity that not more people are using bicycles so it would help the traffic flow

Hi Thanks for the review/feedback. In response you've got to know that the shop has been a "hobby" for 3 years & we are just trying to provide an environmentally friendly alternative. Other responses below :
1. Its 6.5kms from Central Festival Chaweng. Just down the road. We also have free "drop off" available for rentals over 2000 baht, or a small fee for under this amount. Not sure about the google maps location it was correct last time I checked but will have another look & reset when I am back.
2. Yes the shop closes at 5pm! There are a few options though. After this time customers can leave the bike "locked" out the front & we can transfer deposit money back via Paypal. Also, the girls next door can give back any other items.
3. The email responder (due to me being out the country) is turned on alerting customers to the fact that responses are delayed atm. Sorry I have limited access to emails. The good news is I have quit my job overseas & will return to Thailand to run the business full time. So all this will improve.
4. That's unusual. I'm not sure which bike exactly but will ask the staff to have a look.

I booked the trip around 2 months ago with Samui Bikes: When we arrived on Samui, the weather was atrocious with 5 days of constant rain so when the message came from Kris that it was doubtful we would be able to go due to flooding, we were disappointed (but understood). Kris contacted me to say he would try to fit us in another day which is what happened.
On a lovely sunny and hot day, the safety briefing was done and off we went. Kris led the group at a speed suitable to everyone in the group. There was also an additional guide (Charlie) as well as support vehicle. Kris was extremely knowledgable and took us into all the quiet back roads, through typically Thai villages. We ended at the very Southern tip of KS.
I'd say this trip was great for all abilities (our group consisted of an age range of 13 - 45) and we were four in the group.
Thanks Kris and look forward to the photos!

We booked through Viator after reading great reviews. We booked the half day guided tour. The tour started at ten am and was excellent. The bikes are in great condition and easy to use. Be prepared to paddle at the end depending on how far you go. It was no problem for us. Our guide was great and especially attentive. My wife was struck by a car with road rash and some bruises to show. Our guide was really helpful and went to a pharmacy to get antiseptic solution and some bandages. Two Thai ladies from nearby shops came to help. The lady from Secret Garden was especially kind. Everyone was very concerned for my wife's wellbeing. Our guide bought lunch and drinks. Lunch was at a rode side place that seemed to be frequented only by the locals and provided a very authentic experience. All in all we would definitely do this again and we will certainly use the bikes again to explore Bophut.

O wow, really sorry to hear that ! Glad she is ok & you still enjoyed everything. We're working hard to "reclaim the streets" (& even designing/manufacturing our own for export to the world soon). We need more electric bikes on the streets to "show" the locals that it a viable & realistic transport alternative for the future. They will slowly adapt. Electric bikes are a new thing here on Samui/in Thailand & much safer than the petrol powered scooters. Firstly, they are legal ! (& you will be covered by traveller's insurance) as they don't require a license. People don't realize this. BTW, I will also source the "X" reflective vests now as an option. hope to see you again. Thanks

Hi. Yes thanks for your review. Electric Bikes are treated as "luxury" here in Thailand attracting a 60% import tax !, which increases the price. Good news though - The Department of Energy & Chang Mai University are now making Koh Samui a "pilot program" for Eco-friendly products. We offer a 20% discount via this (the best from everyone). You only have to get the Samui Ecopoint app for your phone. Also, we're working on manufacturing bikes here in Thailand so we should be able to do better in the future.

Hi, Yes we have 1 road bike in the shop. We think the mountain bikes are still a better option though due to the road conditions (pot holes & drains !) however, Samui has been installing a tarmac road around the entire island which is somewhat road bike friendly & it is almost finished, so sure it is much more friendly to road bikes than before.

Hi. The tours have been temporarily stopped. The button should be removed by Viator/Trip advisor. Sorry about that. We don't have bikes small enough for children but one of the bikes has a child's seat upon request. We have many bikes for rent through the shop so feel free to drop in & we can help with maps & directions. Thanks.
