After or before a pint in The Carpenters Arms, got take a visit to the Dale Abbey ruins which seem quiet grand close up, followed by a wander through the local woods you might even see the monk.

Interesting monument in a lovely village. You have to walk to these ruins as the larger gate is padlocked and the smaller gate is too small for a pushchair.

Interesting spot in the village of Dale Abbey a peaceful typical English village. Lovely walks and views around this area. A bit difficult to access all of the ruins.

Picturesque Dale Abbey is situated between Spondon and Ilkeston in the borough of Erewash. Visit the ruins of St Marys Abbey, the tiny church of All Saints and wander Hermits wood and find the Hermitage (listing under Ilkeston as The Hermitage).
