Joined a group for the “moderate” walk in the forest Levada. The walk was 6,5km one-way to the beautiful waterfall, and then we went back the same way. Most of the time you walk on a narrow ledge and there are also tunnels with slippery...More

This is a nature filled, wonderful walk. 6.5 km (2 hours) to the amazing waterfall and then back again. You will pass through four tunnels and will need the torch function on your smartphones. To find the start of the walk follow signs from Santana...More

This is a half day trip. It's 11,8 km both ways. You will go through 3 tunnels so make sure you will take a flashlight with you trekking shoes and waterproof jacket. Views are breathtaking. Do not be discouraged by the long steep driveway to...More

This had to be a trip for half day with great views, however it took all day. Views are really great, however we got lost due to lack of signs.

Not for people with vertigo, as the trail takes you on a narrow levada walk. At the end, continue the 100 meters up to the green lagoon with a stunning waterfall. 100s of photo opportunities on this walk!

On this walk you will experience it all. Levada, big trees, bridges, aqueduct, tunnel, cascades. But don’t forget a torch.

As we were walking with a guide he/she can have a real impact on the success of the walk. Twenty of us, of many nationalities, began in a long, steady line, through mixed forest. The procession was maintained until we reached the high waterfall and...More

This is a popular levada walk for this area and the small parking area soon gets full. It was very misty and the views none existent. A bit boring really. Would not do again.

If anyone asks me what the garden of Eden would be like. Well. What you see at the end of this trip could fit for it. Or is there still living some kinds of a dinosaur over there. Very old looking forest with could easily...More

This is one of the longer levada walks which my wife and I did in an organised group. Depending which book you read will colour your view beforehand. As older walkers we felt this was wise, although in the end it proved to be less...More

Just take a taxi to the start of the walk (and ask the driver to come and fetch you 5 hours later). Take a picnic. There is no way you can get lost on the path. You can organise it by yourselves. We didn't meet or get in... More

Bus runs to Santana and then you would need taxi as you wouldn't want to waste time walking on the road when the levada is long in itself. You would also need taxi back to Santana and bus. A hired car is best option.
