Centenary Lakes is a good place for a picnic, lie in the shade and read a good or have a BBQ. Plenty of shade and parking and so close to the city and many suburbs.
Went for a wonderful stroll around the gardens. Wow what a place to visit. It is a must when in Cairns peaceful full of tropical plants.

We were amazed by the plants here. We have the same plants in Western Australia, but these are all so much bigger. A tranquil setting to chill out and wander the various themed gardens. Very informative and don't forge the great cafe for lunch!
this is a picturesque and cooling place to go on a hot day, plenty of wild life and fauna to see. plenty of places to stop and have a picnic or take in the surroundings
