Truly a Treasure in the Heart of Puerto Rico
Mar. 2020
I can't overstate how much I love Aibonito. It's a wonderful town full of great people, great places to hang out, and just ENJOY yourself. This place, however, stands apart.

The Casa Museo is just that. Used to be the home of Puerto Rican statesman Federico Degetau at the turn of the 20th century and since then, it has had its ups and downs. Since the mid 80's, a local team of proud volunteers has led the restoration and upkeep of this self-sustained landmark 100% free of government funds or intervention. The house not only serves as a museum (which you should definitely take the tour) but also as an atypical event or meeting venue which, I'm sure, your attendees will never forget.
Love this place, and a huge kudos to Guelo and his team for keeping our history safe within those walls for the next generations to appreciate.

Beautiful Gem Hidden in the Middle of Puerto Rico
Jun. 2017 • Friends
Aibonito is a beautiful place atop the mountains in Puerto Rico. Aside from the natural beauty, there is a wonderful museum there, Casa Museo Federico Degetau. It has been restored from its run down previous condition. It's full of not only puerto rican history, but the local history as well. They have many antiques, some ranging from the 1800's. The volunteer staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The woman that gave us the tour did so even after the museum was supposed to close! What dedication and customer service! It's a must see for anyone that loves history and antiques!

Beautiful place in Aibonito....

Besides the Coliseo las Americas in AIbonito, a sports gallery, this is a museum worth a visit while in Aibonito. Not a restaurant but if your looking for something cultural to do, visit this renovated house turned museum and continue through the beautiful town of AIbonito...
