Always enjoy coming back here particularly when the cherry cider is in season. Great atmosphere and the cider is always well made. They refill growlers so tend to call in for a refill each time we pass through.

We came for supper and began with a tasting flight of 5 ciders. These came with details of the apple varieties in each and a short description of their heritage. This was an added bonus and we could then choose our favourites. The food was excellent. The pulled pork tacos were the best I’ve had and the lamb rump was melt-in-the-mouth. The portions were generous but we squeezed in a cheese and charcuterie platter complete with apple chutney. The desserts looked delicious but alas, no room! We finished with a flight of brandy and liqueurs, apple of course. The staff were super friendly. Thoroughly recommended.

No trip to the Huon valley would be complete without a trip to Willie Smith's Apple Shed. Apart from a fine selection of cider, there's a decent menu and quite possibly the best apple pie you'll ever taste.

Willie Smiths cafe is large with both indoor and outdoor seating.

On Saturday it hosted the local markets.

We caught up with friends for a coffee and we all had the apple pie.

Coffee was very good. I liked the slice of apple pie, fresh sliced apple filling with a thick crust pastry.

Bathroom on site, plenty of parking.

Plus see the apple wall.

Must visit if in the area.

Enjoyed our lunch at Willie Smiths. A great venue with a wide range of ciders available - our selections were enjoyed. The food was good with plenty of gluten free options: I had pork belly with a salad which was excellent.

Nice drive from Hobart.
Delicious food and cider. Pulled pork taco and the potatoes are to died for.
Leave some room for dessert- all things apple.
Museum on site was good to visit but didn’t donate gold coin because I don’t carry cash.

Located on the Huon Highway (just over 5 mins out of Huonville. You can't miss the large timber shed on the side of the road, with Apple Shed painted in large white letters. They have a large parking area around the rear of the building, with disabled access to the dining area.

The dining area and kitchen are located inside this giant timber packing shed. Its all very rustic, with wooden bench tables. They also have a grassed outdoor dining area, I'd imagine it would be perfect for a sunny day, not so on a cold wet winters day though.

It opens at 10am but I wouldn't leave it too late to go for lunch as most of the lunch specials are sold out before 1am, even on a week day. It usually closes by 5pm except on the weekend. The kitchen was really pumping out the meals when we were there on a Tuesday. We were lucky enough to score the last lamb shanks for the day. The meat just fell off the bone and the mash soaked up the delicious sauce. They serve a variety of ciders on tap and we had the added bonus of a winter mulled cider to warm us up. Willie Smith's is a great place to stop for lunch.

The also have a small shop area near the front counter, where you can purchase packaged (cans and bottles) cider, as well a distilled cider spirits (made at their own on-site distillery). At the other end of the shed they have a small museum, which if you have an additional 10-15mins, is worth walking around to get an understanding of the history of apple growing in the region.

Big fan of the cider, but the food was just awesome. The servings are huge and would consider sharing especially if adding on sides and/or desert. The toasties were delicious, potatoes perfect and the apple pie was perfect with that ice cream! Cider samplers to help wash it all down and a apple desert liqueur to top off desert! Great atmosphere even on a cold rainy day.

WOW. Began with coffee and amazing chocolate brownie (gluten free). We then came back for a late lunch of the most incredible pork belly, apple and walnut salad and roast winter vege. All gluten and dairy free. WOW. Cooked to perfection, each morsel in the plate was incredible tasty and complimented each other. Big serves, great value, wonderful staff. DELICIOUS flight of cider and wine selection. Loved the apple museum as well! Amazing heaters and warmth on a freezing cold day.
