Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best thing about this park is the Campground. Big beautiful sites, flush toilets, showers(!), recycling even.
As "rlmptl" said, the signage in the park was almost purposefully misleading. To get to the trailhead for Niagara Falls, one needs to be headed south on CAN1, which bisects the Park, have an idea of where this turnout is, start slowing way down when you see a speed limit sign of 80kmp, and turn into the small, completely unmarked carpark. If you pass the Visitor Center on the left, you've missed it. We wasted an hour with this and gave up. I understand the falls are spectacular, so it might be worth some extra effort. They need less people speeding around the campground in their Ford pickups and more people who know how to create and mount some signage.
The ranger(?) at the campground kiosk, in early June, told us she didn't think the Visitor Center was open yet, so we did not bother with it.

Lush greenery, waterfalls, river, hiking trails and giant trees are all found here and not too far from Victoria! We enjoyed walking around the park and reading some of the plaques about the plants, flowers and trees. The paths are well maintained and clean. There is plenty of parking but this park can get very busy in the summer.

Stayed at the campground in July 2022. The park itself is quite nice, and it was good to have a place to stay so close to the big city. But the campground needed better/more maintenance during this busy period. The sites are great, but the washrooms were often messy, sometimes out of t.p., some of the toilets were not working, and not all the showers had hot water. The lack of maintenance detracted from our stay as we were reliant on the shared washing facilities.

We were glad we stopped here on our way out of Victoria (about 20 minutes away). We only spent about an hour here, but it was lovely. We made it to one of the waterfalls (by going through a stream tunnel under the highway) and saw some lovely big trees. The parts of the park that we accessed were very well kept and very well used.

We packed in so many activities on our trip, we barely had time to hike. In the end, we took a quick detour to Goldstream Provincial Park on Hwy 1. On the west side of the park (you can park there or walk through a tunnel from the main visitors area), is a very short trail leading to a waterfall. Truly stunning, not due to the volume of water but because of how the falls are surrounded by foliage.

Nice break between Victoria and Cowichan Valley. Nice waterfall there. Park in parking spot and head toward the visitor Centre, then before you get there go under water tunnel and walk back to waterfall. Not as scary as it sounds. Very pleasant and easy.

This is an amazing oasis by a busy highway... hard to believe but very true!
The lush green vegetation, large trees and water falls were just awesome to experience in April. It was a rainy day but the Forrest created a nice natural umbrella for us! The rainy darker conditions allowed the green from the trees and moss look more vibrant in the photos! Note, This isn’t accessible for anyone in a wheelchair!
I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a nice quick nature walk, (this is literally less than 10minutes away from parked car to water fall)

My husband and I visited here last month while staying in Victoria. I had really been looking forward to seeing this park as I love the rainforest, waterfalls, etc. Although it was a nice visit for us, it was not what I expected. For starters, the park is right along side the highway and therefore lots of traffic noise which takes away from the experience. The park has a rather strange set up. The visitor center is a little walk from the parking lot but a pleasant walk. Once there we did not stay long as the exhibits were more for kids and we didn't see anything to interest us. You can walk to the waterfall from this side of the highway (along the creek bed and through a dark tunnel), but there was no sign to point the way and luckily other people were walking back that we could ask. The waterfall was worth a look, very tall and in a pretty setting but low flow due to the time of the year. We noted that the picnic area was in a concrete space as we walked through, did not look that appealing. There is a very short nature trail near the picnic area that we walked and we headed back near the parking area to try some more trails that appeared to be on our map. Although I loved the trees, the short trails quickly came to a dead end and there was no signage. We found no signs on the road or parking area to designate any trails. Perhaps we missed something, but we found no information to help us in walking around the park. That coupled with the ever present freeway noise made our visit a little less pleasant.

Goldstream is a favorite spot for me. I love watching the salmon returning to spawn in the fall. During the rest of the year I love hiking up Mt Finlayson which is just a few mins walk from the goldstream parking lot. Its only 2 km to the top, but its very steep and a bit rugged (rock scrambles). Awesome workout if you have the time and energy!

We stayed at this campground for a week this summer. The drive to the campground seemed a little odd since you go through some residential areas before you come to it, but it was definitely private once you get there. The campground is heavily forested, making some sites a little on the dark side. As with most BC provincial parks, the sites were a good size and nicely spaced out. The washrooms and showers were the cleanest I have ever seen in a campground and the dishwashing station was a nice bonus. They have regular programs at the amphitheatre, which are great for family entertainment. There's some beautiful hiking you can do in the day use area of the park (up the highway) or even some smaller walks you can do right in the campground. Just outside of the campground, there is a pub and a general store that sells wood and supplies. The only negative I can say is the campfire wood that the campground sells is pretty poor for burning.
I would recommend and would stay again.

Does each party/ family has to pay for the picnic fee when using the picnic area?
Written 6 October 2017
Hi - we didn't use the picnic area so I don't know.

I understand that sites 1A to 18C are available on a first-come, first-serve basis this coming weekend. I also believe they come available at 11:00 each morning. How early should we be there on Friday to make sure we get a site?
We wish to camp three nights so, if we secure one of the aforementioned sites, can we book it for the entire three days or do we have to line up and take our chances with everyone else each subsequent day?
One last question. We may be bringing a guest with us who will have her own tent. Will there be an extra charge for this?
Many thanks!

I think you have to call them directly for these details because things might be different this year being the 150th. Busy place and really very popular spot.

A call to BC Transit garnered the following information: they can get you to within a ten minute walk to the park. That's pretty good service.

Hello
We are arriving this coming Wednesday. Probably. Around 3pm. Do u think we will find an available campsite for a day or two.? Or are we too late in the day and we need to come earlier in the day to get an available unregistered campground.
