From what I know, Austrian emperor Franz Josef (who made trips here regularly, as did many of his predecessors and their families) called Băile Herculane "the most beautiful resort on the continent" and it also was his wife Sisi's favourite place to visit and revisit....More

Historic buildings left in dereliction. Base of treatment is improvised in the Cerna river. If you are not staying at a spa hotel, you can not find a swimming pool.
