Historic buildings left in dereliction. Base of treatment is improvised in the Cerna river. If you are not staying at a spa hotel, you can not find a swimming pool.

We visited after reading Patrick Leigh-Fermor. The grandeur of the old resort is very evident but almost every major historic building apart from the beautiful little Catholic church and part of the former Casino complex is either in a state of near-collapse, boarded up, or...More

The scenery is beautiful, the air is very clean, but the lack of consideration for the buildings and the bridges is just very sad! How can they let everything go to ruin?

Baile Herculane looks as if it was a very beautiful place back in the days, a place for the royalty. Now it's mostly ruins and it's not really taken care of. The newer bulidings are actually communist hotels that look very tacky. And now the...More
