We boarded the Subaru Line from Kawaguichiko Station on a bright sunny morning. At the 3rd Station the rain came and at the 4th station the view was nothing but mist. At the 5th Station where we got off the bus we saw people crowding inside the gift n cafe shop (Point A for photo shot of peak of Mount Fuji). Outside there was a line of people in colourful raincoats all ready to climb up in the rain and mist.
We walked around and took photos and hoped that the mist may clear a little to see a little of the mountain - no that didn't happen.
But it was a great feeling to be at the 5th Station of Mount Fuji. That's enough for now-until the next time.

Mt Fuji was covered by low clouds and that gave us a reason to drive up to the 5th Station.
Winding road up with some hairpin turns. About an hour to reach the top. Several stops for photos. The 5th station is crowded with busloads of tourists. Very challenging for photo opportunities without having someone in the frame.
Some parts of the footpaths are ice covered and slippery. My son slipped and fell, resulting in some abrasions on his knees.
Visitors are required to leave the place by a certain time, so please plan ahead to have ample time for photos and also to enjoy the view.

Exuberant toll price just to drive up to the information centre and souvenir shop up.
As title suggest, please drive with extreme care.
There's snow on the roads reaching up to the end point. Buses are plenty driving up and down and they drive fast. If u see one approaching at your rear view mirror, please try to stop at next toilet or look out point for them to pass. If not be prepared to get tailgated. And with that roads, it is nerve wrecking to stare at a bus brand and plate number in your mirror whilst busy concentrating circumventing the precarious roads. Road signs are in Japanese and some don't even have pictorial so u have to guess what they are saying.
Nevertheless upon reaching, breathtaking panoramic views of lakes and towns below. And of course grand and majestic sight up close of Mount Fuji.

We left going up till the last minute, we got the only rain in August whilst there, not a drizzle but torrential, our bad. But we missed everything, we stood on Mt Fuji but couldnt see it, we stood looking at Mt Fuji from Hakone lake but could not see through the rain. High expectations but nothing else, moral of the story, dont wait and check the weather.

The Mount Fuji Subaru line 5th station is approximately at halfway towards the peak of Mount Fuji on the Yoshida trail. The location is accessible all year and provides great views of the peak of Mount Fuji on clear days. Subaru line is a toll road along the slopes of Mount Fuji and buses and vehicles take this route to reach the 5th station. There are parking lots, coin lockers, restaurants, rest areas, souvenir shops at the stop providing all amenities to visitors and tourists.
The 5th station has almost daily bus service from KawaguchiKo. Takes about 50 minutes and return ticket costs about 2200 yen. Do check bus timings as there are roughly 3 buses every 2 hours. No seat reservations on these buses. It can also be accessed as a part of one day tour by tour buses operated by travel agencies based out of Tokyo. 5th station is also accessible using highway buses from Shinjuku Bus terminal.

This Station is a 40-minute bus ride from the Kawaguchiko Station. There are souvenir shops, dining spots, a Shrine, and clean bathrooms. This is the furthest up you can go by vehicle. Our husbands purchased their hiking sticks here for their great climb the next day. These wooden sticks come in different lengths and are stamped at each station on the trails leading to the crown. The view of Mt. Fuji is ominous from this viewing point. The buses run on the hour. Great little spot to take in the beauty of the area.

This is a full day event. We left Hilton at 8am sharp (very punctual) and returned by 6pm. We took the return on the bus option rather than the return by bullet train.
Our guide was very spoken in his English. He was very clear on instructions during the day. The coach seating was comfortable but tight. Bus was not filled for our trip.
5th station was nice, it was a light rainy day. There were some cloud issues hampering a clear view for long periods. There is a large store and restaurant at station. Also a temple and shrine.
A pause in route to Hakone for lunch in Gotemba. Then the black shelled eggs at Owakudani vents near Hakone via sky ride. A short ride to Lake Ashi had us on pirate ship (ferry) ride and our bus return to Tokyo via Yokohama.
Wear comfortable, modest clothing. Use sunscreen. Have water.

Hello, is there a locker around the station to hold our small suitcase?
Written 7 August 2018
I only remember seeing lockers at the Kawaguchiko Train Station where you catch the bus to the Subaru Line Fifth Station. There may be more info on the Train Station's and Fifth Station's websites or by Googling. Hope this helps.
