Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited with friends on a coach tour. The best thing about the visitor centre is the view of the volcano, let's be honest, that's why it's there, and it does that very well.
We were fortunate to be visiting on one of the few days each year with clear skies (less than 10% according to our guide), and were rewarded with a super view.
We had been teased with lesser views during the coach ride from Tokyo, but it was much better to have time to stand and soak in the amazing sight from the balcony, which was two feet deep in snow at the time.

Before we headed up to the Mt Fuji Fifth Station we stopped for about an hour to see how Mt Fuji was formed and learn a little bit more about Mt Fuji.
Along with an informative short movie there were plenty of interesting pictures about Mt Fuji and even how the crater looks (for those who cant make it up to the top).
You can see Mt Fuji from the Centre weather permitting.
I was also surprisingly able to try on a Japanese Wedding Kimono at the centre, which was very special. The ladies helping with this were just lovely (Thank you ladies).
There is also a small gift shop at the Centre.

The building is nice with some infotainment displays on Mt Fuji and the local environment. Fairly light weight on heavy science. Cafe and gift shop is mandatory and the ranger station lent it some cachet. At the end of the day, it is not really a tourist attraction but a superior rest stop.

This place seemed like a quick stopover to just rest and use the amenities ( coffee shop, toilets and souvenir stall)
But it turned out to give us some of the best photos of this beautiful mountain.
We used the top deck to take photos which are amazing including the classic view we all love and want to capture.
This was a great move because by the time we got to the top of Fuji-San p, the rain began to fall and clouds of mists formed.Lack of fore site would have meant that we wouldn't have got the great perspective and/or any photos...
Stop for a half an hour..... it's worth it

Visited with hubby as part of a Titan" Essence of Japan" tour.
We only went in the free Visitor Museum not the paying Museum. Have to say that we were not impressed with the fact that they have built the Museum in front of the viewing deck so that photos generally include a view of the Museum roof!
Sat and watched the English version of the video presentation but it was difficult to hear due to it being located in a busy area next to stairs with people walking by!
Usual shop, refreshments available and good toilet facilities.
Enjoyed interacting with Pepper the Robot!
A good stop off, but have to say we had much better views of Mount Fuji when visiting Mount Kamiyama!

This facility has two buildings: South building as a charged museum and North building as a free visitor center. The admission is just 420 yen for adult. I enjoyed illuminated Mt. Fuji and a bird-eye view picture. But other exhibits were not interactive and mediocre.
In the North building, there were video showing about Mt. Fuji, a gift shop, a currency exchange machine, a robot which conducts a questionnaire survey. The most fun activity was a photo taking while dressing up in old pilgrim attire. Don't miss it. It was also free!

The center has a tourist information center which was a great help to us since we went on our own (no tour guide). We were given maps for the bus routes and another brochure for restaurants in the area. Although there was a restaurant at the center which served cold and hot udon, we ended up at a restaurant right across the center called Hoto Oda (but that would be subject of a separate review). At any rate, the center also has a souvenir shop where my daughter bought a set of post cards. I bought 2 big packs of noodles - 1 for cold udon and 1 for hoto or hot noodles. They were delicious.

This place is nice for a short visit only. Most of us took a toilet break over here. There was an audio visual going on but could not understand anything since it was in Japanese. The souvenir shop was small but crowded. I did a bit of a shopping over here.

This museum is very good for getting the history of the area. They also provide guided tours in English.
I advise visiting this place before visiting anything else because it gives context to other tourist attractions that may not have as much information in English.
They have many interactive displays, including a video about mount Fuji in art throughout the ages.

Rather basic, but it has a bathroom and a handy viewing platform for anyone wanting to take photos of Mt Fuji.

When is the Fujisan World Heritage Center open? We are planning to visit in late November and stay in a nearby hotel for one night. Please inform us when the Center is open (days and Hours) We are architects from Chicago. Are photos permitted?
