We were told that it is the most beautiful rural village of China and it just simply is. We had an amazing 1-day trip and everything was just right, from the scenary, the architecture, the culture, the weather, and the food. What I love most about this place is that locals still live their lives the way they do, although with tourists visiting. So, you'll find old ladies taking the trays of dried herbs out from the hanger while there're more than enough accommodations to facilitate tourists. We were also lucky to visit Huangling during Winter, which is a low season; there were very little tourists, allowing me and family to take time to enjoy our walks throughout the village.

Interesting Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) ancient rural village built on a hillside, and beginning in 2009, transformed into a resort area to draw sightseers. Visit the wondrous mountainside terraced rapeseed field farms.

Since my last visit to the Huangling Tourism Resort in 2020, the village architecture has improved, and the locals appear to be happier. I was told that the increase in tourism has brought wealth to the area.

Named as one of the prettiest village in China and we totally agree, after many trips around China.

Do go especially in these seasons: early spring (early to middle March, not after April, for the yellow canola flowers carpeting the whole mountain range; late spring (May) to see a different flower, the whole area stained red with azaleas;autumn of course to see the red leaves and the various colours of sundry autumn produce (red chillies, yellow corns and many more); and winter to see the serene village in silvery snow.

The village can be described as hanging on the mountain, with traditional old Chinese houses with title roofs and white painting, which is traditional of An Hui province (previously Wu Yuan was under the jurisdiction of An Hui, now in the province of Jiang Xi). We stayed overnight in one of these boutique hotels renovated from old houses and found it very safe and nice inside. Image the sunrise when you open the windows in the morning to find stairs of yellow canola flower carpets welcoming you to a beautiful morning.

The village is very well maintained by the local authority to make it an easy stay for the hotel guests as there are quite some steps. They will send hotel pick up car to pick you up either from the cable car station, or the parking if you drive. Then if necessary, they will also take your luggage to your room, along a scenic outdoor paths, passing by all the live museum of wine, canola oil making, tofu making etc.

The hotels rooms are actually renovated from the village people’s original houses, so they are all scattered along the only path mentioned above.

It is highly recommended to spend a night there so you can enjoy the quiet dawn when the village is among the mist to capture the moments of Chinese water paintings.

Do enjoy the cable car ride to see the aerial view.

A photographer’s paradise.

The mountain village is well maintained under the current management company, the original residents are moved out, the village is turned into a tourist hot spot, a good place for photography.

I have visited the place in autumn last year. This time, it was summer hence there were few tourists. Although the colourful scenes of villagers drying their farm produces, as in autumn, were missing, the breath-taking scenery was good enough for a visit. The good thing about few tourists was unobstructed visiting of the hill and the bridges.

Huangling Village is a hot spot for tourist in autumn as there is an amazing display of colors. The villagers put out farm produces of various colors for drying under the sun. Tourism is part of the reason for them to do so. On a sunny day the place is heavily packed with tourists. It is stunningly beautiful. There is a cable car service for reaching the village from the carpark. In order to get good views, follow the stairs on the left after walking some 5 minutes past the Tourist Center. There is a building for the photographers, each floor offering somewhat different views of the colorful village. Go through each floor and take photos from there. At the far end of the main path, there is a long bridge, Leixin Bridge, offering great views. On the left one could see a beautiful setting of white tribal houses and on the right one could see the terrace rice fields and a smaller bridge.

This is a beautiful spot to visit in Wuyuan county. It's located within 40mins by bus (RMB17) from Wuyuan city. The ticket price is a bit expensive (RMB145) with cable car included and it is not included in the package for the other villages. The village is located at the top of the Huangling mountain and the view is amazing! Highly recommend going earlier in March, because there are more rapeseed flowers. I went there at the beginning of April and the flowers were already falling. You can do this spot in 3 hours. I was there for half day and didn't see any foreigners there. Prepare your Mandarin skills before going there.

It’s a tradition to dry all autumn crops such as daisy flower and chili pepper under the sun. Thus the area was bought as a sightseeing spot and all residents were moved. There is a heaven street (an Old Street) to have a lot of shops on both sides but most of them closed before 6 pm. Overall, it’s a nice area to visit but I still prefer World Culture Heritage places such as Huangshan Mountain and Hongcun village.
