Driving or walking!

A surprising view at the corner of a mountain, it worth going through Mamore Gap! Driving you would need to be extra careful as the road is narrow.

Parked the car at the top of the Gap and headed up above the Grotto. We made our way to the two Urris Lakes. It's a beautiful spot and the views are breathtaking. Very remote area and it took us about 3 hours all in. We chilled out at the lakes and took our time coming back down.

Good for a wet day to pass a couple of hours. Make sure your brakes are in good working order and nobody is a nervous passenger!

Must do if you're in Inishowen, great views but not for the faint hearted. Make sure your breaks work and pray you don't meet any oncoming traffic!

Second time up Mamore Gap and while the weather wasn't as good this time, the road was empty and the view was beautiful. I was also interested in the Magnet/Optical illusion. A friend showed me the spot, turned off the engine and the car climbed the hill (looked and felt like it did anyway!)

One of my favorite drives, a truly beautiful drive over a steep incline from the Buncrana side to Urris, gives a spectacular drive once you crest the top of the hill. Something I do with visitors that come to this area, just make sure the brakes are in good order for the decline. Don't do if its slippy

The road may seem narrow and scary from a distance but is an easy enough climb as there is not a lot of other traffic. The views from the summit are superb over Dunaff head and the surrounding lowlands and sea. The path snakes down towards Lenan and Dunaff with plenty of places to stop for a photograph.

I am total and complete sceptic!! When I was told if you go to Mamore Gap and turn off your car, your car will roll uphill I thought it was time for the mental asylum. So off I went... Not to the asylum to Mamore Gap to prove that it's absolute lunacy. So eventually by the time I got to... More

Mamore Gap is a lovely scenic drive - best travelled from East to West - drive from Buncrana to Urris. 2 good car parks offer viewing points and the view out over the mouth of Lough Swilly and the sea to the North - breathtaking. The lower carpark is also the start or end to one of the local marked... More

As you drive over the Mamore Gap you get a spectacular view of Urris and the sea beyond. There is a place to park as you come over the Gap, with a statue of Our Lady. Great photo opportunity here. You can continue down in the car and stop again further down to get great views of Urris. Definitely recommend.
