My Wife, two adult children and their partners have just returned from an unforgettable week aboard the MV Aroona based in Cairns North Queensland.

From the moment we stepped aboard this stunning 70 ft motor yacht the crew of Isaac our Captain, Tilley our first officer, Eva our customer service manager and Dave our genius chef made us feel totally at home and pampered.

This mini ship will accommodate more people but is perfect for three couples with three spacious and beautifully appointed cabins all with generous ensuite bathrooms – just like a five-star hotel at sea.

Backing up these facilities are a comfortable lounge dining area inside, a back deck dining area and for us the ultimate was the large covered open air dining area on the bridge taking full advantage of the amazing 360-degree scenery.

Speaking of dining, Dave created restaurant quality meals of the highest standard every night and a wide variety of equally temping hot and cold Breakfast and Lunch options. No one will be left hungry on Aroona.

Exploring the amazing reefs and Coral Quays of the Northern Great Barrier Reef was unforgettable under the expert and supportive guidance of this fantastic crew. They safely instructed novices and more advanced members of our party in snorkelling, spear fishing and reef fishing. Having Dave prepare a range of freshly caught reef fish was a highlight.

The passion and dedication of the crew is evident in every detail of the vessel’s appearance and in their commitment to outstanding personalised service.

We couldn’t be happier with our total experience on board which went far to quickly and we will definitely be back for another Aroona adventure on our beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

Our family would recommend the Aroona experience to anyone.

As you can see from the photos,Dave turned the freshly caught Spanish Mackerel (thank you Tania and Rusty) into the most delicious meal.

This boat charter, island hoping, along the Great Barrier Reef and mooring off the beautiful surrounds of Lizard Island was everything you might fantasise about cruising around far tropic North Queensland. Leaving aside the stunning beauty of the reef and associated activities we did such as snorkelling, exciting deep sea fishing, bracing island walks and coral cay picnics - Aroona itself is wonderfully lavish, you really do think you are "living the dream" at least for a few days. Each of the three couples in our group each had our own luxuriously appointed cabin and en suite. Add to this cocktails served on the upper deck prior to lunch and dinner followed by exceptional restaurant quality meals and service, served in the saloon (often having fish and seafood freshly caught that day).

The Captain, Ross, and his crew, the indefatigable deckie, Joe, hostess and cocktail maker, Lucy and aforementioned chef of the great meals, Stew, were all sensational, so accommodating and such good company. We all learned a great deal about the reef and all the fish life and it's ecology from Ross.

The crew were all focused on ensuring we had the best possible time and we got to do whatever activities we were interested in such as taking us to deserted islands to get to the best snorkelling.
We all loved our time on Aroona and thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to have a unique experience of the Great Barrier Reef, with all the comfort and service of a luxury cruise.

The crew were excellent. Snorkelling at places to suit our requests. Very knowledgable and helpful. Lots of food but would have liked more seafood.

The Aroona was ideal for our ROV survey with remote control and agile manoeuvrability of the vessel. The team was superb accommodating our unique survey needs, particularly the deployment of a transducer pole and towing the sonar array.

As part of a 3 week trip to Australia my wife, 2 teen/young adult children, and 2 friends, spent 6 days on Aroona in mid December. The trip was excellent, focused on scuba and snorkelling. We had very good guides who were able to look after the different experience levels, from very to newbie.
Aroona is very comfortable for this size group, and the crew were excellent. Food was great, and the service was extremely attentive.

We adjusted the itinerary based on specific weather and diving conditions for each day, which meant we were able to dive at least once every day, usually 2 or 3 times.

We also enjoyed fishing in between dive sites, and caught barracuda and tuna- all released unharmed! A great trip, and a perfect way to explore the Barrier Reef.

Wow what an amazing boat, crew, food, location(s), wildlife etc. I wish I could have stowed away for a few more weeks!!

We kitesurfed (1237km) over the 10 days and when the wind was down we snorkled, dived, fished, SUP'd, skurfed, ate, drank and relaxed. It was amazing and made possible by Skipper Ross, tender Jo and Chef Steve (among others).

The guys are great and will make sure you have a good time if the pristine reef, boat and wildlife isn't enough.

I would have no hesitation recommending Aroona for a holiday or adventure on the Reef with family, friends or colleagues!

Aroona was the main support boat and Ross Miller the skipper for our Kite the Reef expedition in August 2015. We are a group of kitesurfers that just broke the world record for the longest kitesurf in history. We did this along the most iconic stretch of water in the world - the Great Barrier Reef.

Aroona and Ross were a huge part of the expedition's success. We could not have done the trip without Ross and the team's deep knowledge of the Reef and surrounding areas. Their commitment and dedication was second to none. Aroona itself is an amazing vessel - after 9 hours every day kitesurfing it really was a comfortable home away from home.

I would have no hesitation recommending Aroona for a holiday or adventure on the Reef with family, friends or colleagues!

With children scattered all over the countryside we used the trip as a family reunion. It was the most wonderful experience to share with our children and grandchild. The staff, food accommodations everything was 10 out of 10, I wouldn't change a thing. We made memories to last a lifetime !
