Baba Vida means "Granny Vida". Legend has that the king divided his land between his 3 daughters. 2 married drunkards who spent the daughters money while the 3rd, Vida remained unmarried and built the fortress with her money instead. Beautiful building and well preserved

This ancient fortress is well-preserved and almost entirely original, unlike many other similar sites. We recommend hiring a guide who will explain the different historical periods of the fortress.

Very interesting location and impressive history. Although I was surprise by the concrete works that have been done in site. I am just curious if that is wright!

Not much to see on the inside, but viewing the outside reveals a grand medieval fortress. We kept exploring the interior, hoping to find something remarkable, but we couldn't. Just cruise by or walk around.

We walked from our ship up the waterway leading directly to this structure. Structure is still in good shape with good views. There isn't much to look at inside but it was only $1 to get in. Nice craft venders selling homemade art works

Although it has been converted to prison from the Turks, this small castle is the only one survived the Ottoman era in a relatively good shape. The view from it is nice, so is the local beach nearby. There is a small chapel, inquisition room,...More

You can easily reach the fortress. From the cruise ship - it is located not more than 100 m. right along the Danube promenade.
