This monastery had something special particularly due to it’s ancient heritage and larger than life sculptures. This monastery is about 1000 years old and the original building is kept as it is. It needs renovation and slowly deteriorating.

It is one of the oldest Monastery in the world. Normally all Monastery are in the hill top but it is at the ground level. Painting on the wall is a speciality. One should not miss it. Painting reminds the work at Ajanta and Ellora....More

This is far from the city but one of the oldest. No photography inside.. but view to your satisfaction some of the oldest painting and come to know the three Budha.. including the one yet to visit planet earth.

A small piece of history at Alchi near the Indus river. Felt quiet and peaceful when we came here. It opens from 10 am amd there is an entry fee purely for rennivqtion and maintenance of the monastery.
