Jus an amazing experience. Must visit!! It's a treasure, so scenic and the flora and fauna diversity is amazing:) just a small request please save environment by not spilling plastic waste and trash in reserve. The people there are trying to save the habitat and tiger population, Respect that. A small tip..try booking safari in Zone 3 it's beautiful!!…

Took 2 safaris. Zone 2, in the morning, saw nothing. In the the evening we roamed about for 3 hours in zone 3 and no movement happened. Arrowhead, Riddhi or Siddhi didn’t want to meet us! My son was highly disappointed as I had told him that Ranthambore means Tiger. As kids, we never went dissatisfied from this sanctuary. On way out, we all gave up hope except our enthusiastic guide Mr Harvinder (Bobby). Since the beginning he said, I will show you the tiger today. But he positive attitude didn’t impress the tigers. Out of zone 3, on the fort road he heard a monkey call and made Shahzyada (driver) turn around, he pointed at a faraway peak and said there is a leopard, there wasn’t any. Again disappointed we sat down. Now we were looking forward only to our dinner at the Taj. My son was packing his camera equipment and suddenly our guide said ‘Tiger Tiger, I looked up cynically and couldn’t believe my eyes. The beautiful animal was only 5-10 feet from us, just before the entry of Maingate! My son snapped a picture once and we had barely soaked our eyes in this beautiful moment, when 2 VIP jeeps of the government came and their people started shooing all the ‘lesser mortals’ like us away as we were blocking their ‘sahebs’ way. Much to our irritation, they threatened and abused all the on lookers away from the spot to clear their view. So our ‘mehnat’ for 2 full days and the success was short lived. ☹️. My son had his first brush with the brut attitude of government, he couldn’t believe he was not allowed to see the Tiger as some government office people with sticks forced us out of the sanctuary. I being older and used to being a second grade citizen in my own country, explained to him, it took him a while to settle down his anger. Then as ‘adjusting’ Indians we enjoyed the fact that at least we got to see the stripped beauty! All thanks to Mr Harvinder who didn’t give up his positive attitude till the end. I hope that when my son gets his children, the system and attitude of government officials would have changed from the ‘British Raj’ attitude. All in all our stay at Taj Vivanta was flawless and they maintained their reputation of being number one in hospitality. We were also happy with the spotting, even though for a fleeting minute. We had managed to click a photo. So checking out tomorrow with a happy state of mind with a tinge of bitterness at being treated as criminals after being dutiful law adding, tax paying citizens of the country. Anyway...we were lucky to have spotted ‘Sultana’ as thankfully she didn’t treat us like lesser mortals! Animals don’t discriminate!…

Google the online booking site for Ranthambore National Park. You will find at least 5 websites, each of which look like the official sarkari resource for booking your foray into the jungle. As it turns out, there is only ONE (obviously) official government website for a safari booking. Which is not to say that the others won’t get you a safari. It’s just that you may end up paying a little extra for the privilege. Navigating the government site is very simple once you figure out how it works. The homepage has a plethora of information. Ignore all that and click on the button marked ‘SSO Login’ innocuously hidden somewhere in the top right hand of the navigation menu. From thereon it is a simple matter of registering with your email and mobile number and booking the safari. Smooth, safe, reasonable and reassuring – digital India at work for you! Though we were thrilled at having booked the safari ourselves, there was a downside to it. Next morning Sanju and I had to drive to the safari booking counter at 0500HRS. The rules state that we’d have to go in person to get our Gypsy allocated. Surprisingly, this too was a pretty neat experience. Within five minutes the staff allocated us a guide and vehicle! The vehicle accompanied us back to the resort and waited patiently till 0600HRS, which was the scheduled time for our safari. I must add, having taken safaris at Gir, Pench, Corbett, Bandipur, Masinagudi, Thekkady and Wayanad amongst others, this was the first time we’d had a totally Atma – nirbhar digital India experience, and it was brilliant. Inside Ranthambore National Park It is said that the probability of sighting a tiger in Ranthambore National Park is the highest. That is absolutely true. We were meandering through the forest, simply enjoying the sheer bliss of being out there. Just then we came across a two – year old tigress. Apparently, she was resting in the shade when we stumbled across her. Not appreciating the attention, she got up and stretched. Before we could get over her languid pose, she walked across our path to find a shaded spot deeper into the jungles. I guess no lady likes peeping toms in her boudoir! Thankfully, her theatrics took the better part of 5 minutes. Enough time for us to marvel at her grace, style and sheer beauty!…
