Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had one extra day
after climbing Kilimanjaro and decided to give this a try. The caves were interesting but the guide left a lot to be desired and couldn’t answer a lot of questions. Felt awkward, very one note and quite boring. The highlight here is the FOOD!!! Be sure to arrange to have lunch here, hands down the best food I had in Tanzania!! My guide arranged it and I’m so glad
he did. Otherwise I’d skip this excursion and just do the Maasai village
experience followed by the hot springs.

I wouldn't particularly make a special trip to the museum BUT there are a number of other interesting things to see in that area - including the waterfalls and the chagga caves and the combination of all three makes for a very fascinating day. The museum itself is small and the displays are all static, but interesting - the best part about the museum is the replica hut (complete with smoky fire and resident cows) which you can go into and listen to a talk by a local man.

We visited both the live museum and also the chagga caves near by. In the chagga caves we learned a lot of history about the chagga's survival strategy and struggles with the other tribes. Very interesting to visit the caves and the guide there is a good story teller with good English!
In the live museum there was a lot of tools being used and I guess it is called live museum because they have live goats and a cow in the traditional chagga house. After this we convinced our driver to take us to a local bar to tast the local beer "mbege" made from bananas and millet. Awful tast, but something to tick off the list ;-)

Ridiculously pricey one day trip from Arusha for very basic attraction worth not more than few dollars. For 100$ per person you got the long road, small walk to the waterfall ( nice but nothing special or spectacular) and Chaggy museum. Coffee tour - nothing to learn, just a very basic info and like 15 minutes presentation of the production on traditional items ( more acting than a real experience). Not interesting at all. Chagga caves - 10 minutes walk through the tunnel with very bored guide who couldn,t answer even simple questions about the place. The only information we received was just a basic sentence like “ here was a kitchen” . At the end short walk on the hill were we supposed to see Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro view from the hill is mostly covered by big antenna tower, so there is no chance for clear view even in the great weather.
The whole trip is just a tourist trap.

We had a group of 10 people with 5 teens on a Lutheran Mission trip. Our guide was funny and kept the attention of the youth. It was interesting and we wished we had more time to spend there.

this was a very interesting day trip from the Marangu Hotel. We went with a villager to learn about local culture and some Chagga history. Lots of walking, but very worth it.

We enjoyed stopping at this museum as part of our Cultural Tour with African Traits. It was interesting to see how they lived above ground and also underground when they had to go into hiding.

We visited the Chagga Museum and underground caves as part of a 2 day Cultural Tour through African Traits.
We learned a lot about the history of the Chagga people, looked inside their houses, learned about the symbols on them and things around their houses. We also went into the cave which was very interesting.
