Beautiful jungle
Mar. 2021 • Family
We visited the wild life sanctuary after hearing about a tiger sighting a week before our visit to wayanad. Because of the summer hest, the trees were a little dry but the trees are magnificently tall and I am sure the place would look extremely beautiful during monsoons.

Total waste of resources - don't spend time & money for Jeep Safari at Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary
Feb. 2021
Pathetic Jeep Safari ever experienced. Firstly, using closed Jeeps for Jungle Safari with rear seats layout across, facing each other is the, stupidest thing. Secondly, no guide is sent during the Safari. So not much interaction about information on the Sanctuary as well as its flora fauna, due to language barriers. Thirdly, the Safari lasts for hardly one hour, with the last 15 minutes wasted on return drive along the Highway. The Jungle along the Safari track is boring, nothing to see. Only lots of Elephants around. We spotted around 8-10 Elephants. Other animals spotted were just one Deer & a Jungle Fowl.

7 persons per Jeep allowed. Jeep Charges Rs 720. & Jeep Entry Fees in Park Rs 85. Entry ticket per head Rs 160. Pl form own groups of 5 or 6 or 7 persons before buying ticket at counter, else each ticket is punched with Rs 85 . Ideal group size is 5, 2 each on rear seats & 1 next to driver.

Go for the Safari if you have nothing else to do in Sultan Bathery. Instead, better visit Nagarhole or Muddumalai or Bandipur Sanctuaries surrounding this park.

I usually do not write negative reviews, but this was really terrible.

Worst experience
Jan. 2021 • Family
There were no animals at all except one domestic elephant near the entry. We reached there at 2pm and ticket counter opened after 3pm. Even washrooms were locked and opened around 2:50pm. We were charged Rs. 1520 /- for 8 adults @ 160 + 1 child at 70/- + LMV 170/- at the counter. On coming out to get into the Jeep, we were charged 720/- per jeep extra ie 1440/- for two jeeps. We were under the impression that 1520/- tkts included the Jeep rent also, but it is mentioned on the same (BUT NOWHERE NEAR THE TICKET COUNTERS) that "Excluding Safari Jeep Rent".

It was a 45 mts ride which starts from the entry gate near the ticket counter and connects to the Main Road Near Bandipur exit and that last 4 Km stretch of that road we had already travelled while coming from Mysore.

Complete waste of time and money!

Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary
Dec. 2020
You have to be an early bird to take first few jeeps to venture into the wildlife sanctuary.

It is open at 7.00am and only 40 jeeps are permitted in morning and in the evening it is only 20 jeeps, there will be a forest officer every 5th Jeep.
It is costly though 800 + 750 per jeep for 5 people

It gets crowded quickly and might miss it if you are late, so try to be at 6.30am or even before that if possible

We had a chance to spot elephants, deers, peacock and few birds. Again it is purely based on the luck.

A must visit attraction in Wayanad and this is located between Karnataka's Bandipur reserve and Tamil Nadu's Mudhumalai reserve forests

I never recommend this place
Oct. 2020 • Family
I never recommend this place. Entry fee is around 800 for 5 people.
They offer a jeep safari which cost 750rs for a jeep for 5 people.
Nothing to see. Hardly you can see some deer.
Its utter waste of money.

Wildlife experience in Wayanad
Oct. 2019
This is one of the major attractions in Wayanad. Muthaga wildlife sanctuary is bordered by Karnataka's Bandipur and Tamil Nadu's Madumalai National Park. A jeep safari through the sanctuarymay not offer an excellent wild animal sighting but the overall experience is very interesting. Large trees, rare birds, deer, wild boars, elephants etc can be easily spotted. If you enter the sanctuary with a hope of spotting wild cats, you will be disappointed. But there are other wonders in the forest that can make your safari exciting. It takes slightly over an hour.

Timings are from 7.00 am - 10.00 am and 3.00 pm - 5.00 pm. Best visited early morning at around 7.00 am. Else, opt for an evening one. Charges are INR 110/- per adult and INR 40/- per child.

Nothing much to see. You can see only Deer, Langoor & elephants. Only Jeep ride available and getting the same is very difficult because of rush & bad system.

Very crowded even though we arrived early morning. Vehicles aren't suitable for viewing game - poor visibility and uncomfortable.
