We were on the cableway on Thursday the day the lightning stopped everything. Luckily we had just got off at Baron Falls station for some spectacular shots of the falls running very full in the midst of a tropical storm. The Skyrail provided umberallas so we were able to see the view and keep dry. Then the lightning struck, the... More

We had some trouble getting the bookings we wanted as one member of our party wanted to go on the Canopy Glider. Unfortunately it was not possible as no-one else booked (there is a minimum of 2 paying customers) but when we said another of our party could go, then we were advised that the ranger was unavailable on that... Thanks Skyrail/ QLD Rails for being flexible! After taking the train up, one person in our party of six was afraid of heights, and QLD rail happily changed our booking for two to head back down via rail. The rest of us has a lovely time on Skyrail. We took the time to get off on both stops. Ranger Phil... More

Got the diamond upgrade (glass bottom floors). It was absolutely perfect looking down on the trees! Not so good to go on the way down, as there were no more free tours guides at the stops (Barron falls and red peak)

This cable car ride from Kuranda back down was amazing. The ride itself is about 30-45 minutes, with two stops along the way where we had to change cars. The stops gave us an opportunity to explore a path through the rain forest and view the waterfall area. Each car holds 6 but we had a car all to ourselves... More

A 7.5 km cableway journey through a world heritage rainforest. There are two boardwalk stops with interpreters and an interpretation centre. Great lookouts of the rainforest and Barron Falls. You end up in Kuranda where you could easily spend 3 hours shopping.....prices much better than in the cities. You can return by train or sky rail and there are connections... More

A full day needs to be put aside for a visit to Kuranda, we took the sky rail up, definitely do the boardwalk at the first stop and stick with the guide, his knowledge of the forest & the native animals & his native welcome to us was special. We took the skyrail down from the village Kuranda. It was a great experience and we had a fantastic view. At the stop Red Peak station we had a guided little tour. Interesting and good. The kids had fun at every tower because of the extra litteratur shaking.

I made the trip via the cable car to Kuranda, then the train back to Cairns. The cable car ride was a great view with stops for small boardwalk areas around the cable car stops with guides sometimes present.
