We visited for a fantastic cooking class with a cook with great humor. The course is in her own home. We learned some great tricks and yesterday we prepared the food at home here in Denmark from the recipiece we had and it was just the same. This Place has my best recommendations :)

We had an afternoon of fun with Mama Tiew learning batik! We talked with her the day before and looked at patterns and ideas for our pieces. Upon arrival the next morning she had all the supplies prepared and got us immediately rolling. From applying the wax to adding color she passed on her knowledge and skills! At the end we had a beautiful handcrafted souvenir to keep from our time on Koh Jum.

We had a wonderful time learning batik with Tiew. She is clearly gifted in her art, and took the time to go over each step with us. Beyond being a great teacher, Tiew is so friendly and great to talk to.

We visited koh jum in May and as it is low season most bars, restaurants and atractions were already closed. I was really looking forward to do some cooking class and luckily Baan Tiew was still open. We booked day before and we chose what would we like to learn. It was our thai favourite Tom kha gai soup, chicken pad thai and Makanam curry. When we arrived to the cooking class all ingredients were alredy prepared for us peeled and cut with list of ingredients on which we were taking notes. Cooking itself was fun, we really enjoyed it and lerned a lot. Then we sit down to eat but we couldnt possibly finish it all so our hostess packed everything for us to take home.
Highly recommended

We took a master class for 3 dishes of our choice: Pad Thai with shrimps, Papaya salad and green curry also with shrimps. We booked a week before the class but then our plans changed due to the weather (boat execursion had to be moved on another day due to a strong wind) and we ask for a date changing. It was no problem at all.
Baan Tiew is very kind and nice.
When we arrive all we need were prepared already — the ingredients, the list of products for each reciepe, even the cooking ФАРТУК.
Baan speaks english very well. Also she knows europian kitchen and give us recommendation about replacement for those ingrediets that we don't have in our country.
The class starts from the photo session and the Baan described the proprotions of ingredients for each reciepe.
Then we cooked about 30-40 minutes and when all the dinner was ready we started to taste. It was really the best dinner during our 2-week holiday in Thai.
The dinner was so big that we have to take away half of it.
Highly recommend to visit Baan if you are interested in Thai kitchen.

We booked a cooking class for six persons and we had a very exciting evening, with good explanations, about the Thai kitchen, we had great food in a cosy atmosphere.
Baan was a good and patient teacher.
Keep on fighting for more Thai food in the rest of the world 😊.

A MUST DO ON KOH JUM! What ever class you pick you'll truly have an amazing experience with Tiew. We had with out a doubt THE best day ever making batik with Tiew, she is such a kind lady and amazing teacher! We had never done batiking before this was no problem to her, she taught us how and helped us along the way but also let us get on with our own craitivity, as any great teacher would do. She also made us some of her fantastic spring rolls (the best ever) for lunch. It was raining this day so we spent some time chatting with her before we left getting to know a bit more about Island life on Koh Jum. We left feeling fully satisfied and very content with life.

We spent the day with the lovely Tiew doing a Batik class. We arrived in the morning and mapped out our designs before drawing them in wax and lastly, dying them. The whole time, Tiew was so helpful and friendly, guiding us through the entire process and helping us along the way.
The batik process was creative and a lot of fun- a great holiday activity and something a little different.
Tiew was the perfect host for the day and a great teacher! She makes the process suitable for all ages and abilities. We loved our class and would recommend to anyone on Koh Jum!
And if you get the chance- try her delicious cooking. The spring rolls were amazing!
