My group of 16 foreign students stayed at the various hostel rooms at the Irente Farm Lodge and they absolutely loved their experience. We were able to reserve them rooms at an affordable rate and the staff at the hostel was very helpful and friendly. Rooms were very clean and separated by gender. Myself and my colleagues were provided ideal accommodations separate from the group.

Safety was never an issue and all the group's property was secure. The meals at the farm restaurant were preplanned and, this is not an understatement, it has incredible food and the chefs can cater to whatever dietary restriction that you might have. The cheese and bread made on the farm can compete with the best European products. A delicacy in a region where cheese is almost taboo. Our students voted the meals at the farm as their favorite during the course of their 4 month course.

I would highly recommend staying here whether you are traveling in a group or just a solo traveler. Lushoto is a quaint and lively town as well. Do not miss this place if you are coming to Usambaras!

We researched some spots in Lushoto and this wasn't on top of our list but some friends convinced us, having stayed there.

It was a great find, even if the road to getting there is a bit rough. The place is very authentic and minimalist yet it has a charming farm feel to it. Being surrounded by lush greenery and tall trees makes it a great escape from concrete jungles we otherwise live in.

The restaurant with its farm lunch was great, though it can get a bit boring after two days or so. The staff are very friendly and open to most requests. They look to want to make your stay comfortable.

The naturals jams were also super, took quite some home from the farm shop.

Dear guests, We are glad that you enjoyed our place including the picnic lunch. The ground is big and there are many trees/forests where that children can play hide and seek. Welcome back another day. Greetings from Anette Murless Manager Nature tourism at IBR

Dear travel Chris, Sorry about your exerience on 30 December. To respond to your comments firstly it is always good to complain right away . Did you do that? Point 2 sorry about the dry bread; this is the first complaint ever about dry bread. They must have chosen a loaf which was too old and not fresh. As regard to portions we havent changed the size of portions for a number of years, nor the price. Muesli. Our muesli contains sugar and it is declared on the packet. We haven´t changed the recipe. There have never been nuts in our muesli. About service; we can only apologies, we have spoken to the staff on duty that day. Next time you are in Lushoto please come and see us. Greetings from Anette and Peter Murless, Managers

We walked to the Irente viewpoint from the Lawns hotel and was a very pleasant walk. It should be on your list of things to do in the area.

The view is spectacular

Brilliant place to stay! All accommodation is of good standard and the prices are affordable and not a rip off. The food is absolutely brilliant, all homemade and delicious. Great hosts and service. Highly recommend it.

We stayed in the self contained cottage which has 2 bedrooms. It was clean and comfortable and well furnished.

One of the best meals we ate on mainland Tanzania. Everything was beautifully fresh and produced on the farm. Absolutely divine cheeses and jams. Beautiful setting amongst the trees. Satisfied even my somewhat fussy 11 year old!
