Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well, yeah: you have to see this church -- it dominates its Margao neighborhood with its towering white-washed walls. Inside is pure Portugal, with lots of gilt and carving and saints' statues. The Portuguese tore down a Hindu temple to build the first church; the Muslims knocked down several iterations before this one stuck. Been there close to 3-1/2 centuries now. Besides, it's cool inside and a great respite from Margao's relentless sun.

Inside the church there is a rectangular square in front and a row of antique houses on both sides. This church is the finest examples of the Indian Baroque style. The main altar of this Church is dedicated to the Holy Spirit. The church can be entered from the side entrance to the north. In the church the huge cross dates from the late 17th century which is a great attraction. The feast is celebrated on the 10th of June.

If you are in South Goa, In or around Margao You have to Visit the Holy Spirit Church The church is open every day from 9.00am to 12.00pm & in the evenings from 4.00pm to 7.00pm. This is an amazing Architectural contribution of the Jesuits to Goa, The Church will soon be 500 Years Old.
While you are in You get to witness Carved altars to Mary, St Michael & St. Paul, Carved and gilded reredos behind the main altar along with the nice restored pipe Organ, The walls and the Ceilings too will impress you.

This Church is located about 15-20 Minutes walk from Our lady grace church. As the church was closed when we visited we could not enter it.The facade is beautiful. This is a very old church in Goa built by Portuguese.
A bit of History : The place were Holy spirit church stood initially had temple of Damodar. Portuguese during their reign destroyed the temple, filled the temple pond and built Church of Holy spirits in the temple pond place. The Damodar temple is now loacted in Zambaulim, zambaulim is about 35 Kms from Margoa.
Church may look more beautiful in interiors but we couldn't go inside.

Went to attend a wedding in this church. The Altar was very beautiful and the work done in gold painting reminded one of cathedrals in Spain. The choir was good and have to say that the priest gave a good sermon for a newly married couple. Very spacious church one of the biggest in Goa. Plenty of parking space in front of the church.

More than the architecture and the structure I really admire the history and the story behind this magnificent church. Make sure that you will have a full guided tour of the place.

As most of the old Churches in Goa, this Church too, is beautiful and serene. You feel closer to God.
When you enter the Church, you will be filled with awe at how such high Churches were built without the use of any cranes to hoist the stones. Secondly individual stones are not held together with cement. These have just been fitted into place.
Another beautiful feature is that on the winter and summer solstice, only the two side altars of the Church get illuminated with sunlight, through a small opening in the ceiling. It is indeed a marvellous combination of engineering technology and astronomy, possessed by people who lived over 450 years back with hardly any resources at their disposal. Does make us feel small in comparison.

Where is it exactly located and the timings of visit?
Written 24 February 2017
it is located...when u coming from Panajim/Airport/Colva Beach /Raia... u will cross a circular round in Fatorda (fish market) U take the road to go center of Margao. About 200meters from the circular round u will see the curch. The road pass close by the curch. Timing to visit... i think day time will be oponed... because there is a school behind the curch and belong to curch. Have a nice journey.
