Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Id Kah Mosque is a famous landmark in Kashgar. It is located next one of the main entrances to the "Old Town/Ancient City" area. In front the Mosque is a very large public square area where people leisurely walk through and enjoy the surroundings.

The Mosque is nicely maintained and is clean. Upon entering the Mosque (fee required on entrance for tourists), the grounds area is lovely - many tall trees providing nice shade from the sun. Inside the Mosque structure, the design is quite simple and the area is clean. While this Mosque is not as elaborate so others around the world, it is still a nice place to visit. This Mosque is still actively being used for services in the evening hours and weekends.
Nice place to visit and enjoy the scenery.

The mosque is good the visit, not as impressive as the mausoleum but still worth it. Visit also the gardens around the mosque.

The Id Kah Mosque is located quite near to the Old Town of Kasgar. The whole complex occupies 16,800 square meters. It is a rather simple worship place.

I visited kashi (kashgar) few days ago and i enjoyed being in a city that is very rich in history. id Kah Mosque (masjid) is located close to the old city and it represents a nice bukhari style architecture. A must visit if you like history

This sacred site is the tomb of Apak Hoja. It was built in 1640. It reveals the Islamic influence in the region that still endures. Its timelessness lends itself to intriguing photo ops and interesting historical revelations

I liked it a lot probably for the exact same reason others find it uninteresting. It's not a posh place of worship but a very functional one. Built in 1442, it is the largest mosque in China and it can accommodate up to 20,000 people. The square in front of the mosque is open and huge, I can't imagine the scene when this open space is occupied by people coming to pray during high season.
Close to the Mosque, there is this delightful restaurant with large second floor patio overseeing the area and the food was very good with freshly brewed coffee - too bad that I forgot the name. We were also very excited to find a great carpet shop on the left of it called Bai Yu Xiang where we found excellent quality silk and wool carpets, better than all the others we've visited. It wasn't cheap but we couldn't help but bought two. It was a great visit we had here.

As Mosque go it is just an average mosque BUT it is the place where the local Uighur people come to pray who are being swamped by the Han People. There many shops and cafes surrounding the Mosque for eating and getting a tea or coffee

This will make your trip inside the mosque (and all other parts of Kashgar) much more worthwhile. They can tell you stories like during the Cultural Revolution the Red Guard tried to defame the mosque by having pigs run through the grounds only no one there had seen a pig before. Without a guide I would have gotten so little out of it other than a nice, leafy place of worship. We saw the penalty box where people who arrive late need to do their prayers and heard many stories, recent and old, about what has happened there that would understandably not be on the government sponsored signs.

just walking the exterior. The interior is totally forgettable unless you have never seen the inside of a mosque. The action is on the outside. Catch it on a Friday. Dress appropriately, male or female.
