Here is Langzhong Ancient Town in Sichuan. It is a very beautiful place. Here is full of the breath of ancient China. The whole town is very huge. I spent the whole afternoon to walk around there but I still couldn't walk all places. There are a lot of special snacks that you do not need to have lunch because... More

Langzhong Ancient Town is one of Four Great Towns of China, toghter with Lijiang ancient town, Pingyao ancient town and Huizhou ancient two. But when I traveled there, I found that there were no many crowd tourists there. Many tourist sites in the town, such as Zhangfei Temple, Academy Administrative Office, Confucious' Temple, Geomancy Pavilion, Sichuan Examination Hall and so... More

Among the four or five typically Han ancient towns in China this is definitely my favourite The houses are, of course, restored and fit for touristic use, but (compared to other so-called ancient towns) Langzhong is done with so much taste! The charm is totally preserved, the night illuminations just fantasticly atmospheric so that you never feel like in a... More

Langzhong is a really beautiful place, the streets are quite quiet but still lively. Compared to Lijiang or Dali, the town is way less commercial, there not so many tourists and you can still see the real life of the city. There's a few interesting historic places to visit, a combined ticket for 120元 gives access to all of them.... More

It's impossible not to enjoy a weekend in Langzhong. Spend the day enjoying the sites in the old town then walk along the river and enjoy the stunning sunset. The next day take a walk up to one of the small mountains to enjoy unbelievable views of the river and old town. Can not recommend this place enough for a... More

This is a "for real" ancient part of town. It's loaded with street vendors, restaurants and it's a very active site. The "ancient" buildings are just that. No phony stucco over prefab or concrete. Lots of walking. A fun way to spend an afternoon and/or evening.

Unlike many other artificial "ancient towns" that were built with cement in recent years, the old houses and courtyards in Langzhong are original. As a major tourist attraction in Sichuan, it has not been ruined by commercialization. You can still see local residents living their daily life there. You can even saw two schools and a kindergarten hidden among the... More

This is a very nice old town. It's a lot smaller than Lijiang but definitely less touristy. It's good to visit soon before large throngs of international (and local) tourist groups invade the place. We stayed 2 nights within the old town which gave us more than sufficient time to comb through the town at a leisurely pace. However, one... More

langzhong ancient town is a nice place to spend a couple of days. even though the main road is pretty touristic, the atmosphere here is much more authentic than in lijiang or dali. walking along the side streets you'll see local people living their everyday life and not just shops or restaurants for tourists. if you're looking for a place... I really liked this city and am grateful to our hosts for taking us to Langzhong. Although surrounded by a large modern city, the ancient center is wonderfully maintained and, as someone else said, not commercialized, at least not too much yet. I think, of all the old cities I have visited in China, this one comes closest to answering... More
