A great little beach with calm waters for this part of the coast. Can get stingers in season and there are crocodile warning signs for certain times of year but generally safe and busy. The local surf club, across the highway, provide life guards and weather/water advice

Perfect beach. Water and sand are pristine. Amenities are fine. Shade is available. View from the water is sublime.

Unfortunately this is the best beach in Cairns. Why is this unfortunate? Well, a minority of people who frequent here and/or just visit occasionally have taken it upon themselves to do more than just get nude in the bushes. These men are not 'just' getting nude. I encourage all who visit this amazing place in Cairns to file a complaint... More

Great spot. You'll see some natural wildlife - like Cassowaries - strolling along this small private beach. It is a must see for anyone with a rental car and a free afternoon. There is a small campground at one end- should you decide to stay longer. My girlfriend and I spent an afternoon there - just whittling away the hours... More

Ellis beach would have to be perhaps the best beach north of cairns. Just a couple kms past Palm Cove, it has life guards on duty, stinger nets in place and beach reports adving of all conditions...including marine stingers. Great safe family beach.

Ellis Beach was an ideal location for a wedding ceremony. The sandy beach with palm trees along the edge made an idyllic setting for a recent wedding. The wedding was conducted toward the centre part of the beach as the southern section (out of view of the Captain Cook Highway) had the reputation as being a nudist area - not... More

This is on the way to Port Douglas from Cairns . A great stopping point and a very nice beach . There is a bar there where you can enjoy a beverage or two .

Easy to reach from car park. Lovely sand, nice little waves today. The mountains are directly across the highway. The beach goes on for a little way (maybe 1-2km?). Very picturesque

My wife and I set out on a hot, sunny late March, Friday afternoon to visit the beaches north of Cairns, Ellis Beach was as far as we went. Driving north on Captain Cook Highway (44) just past Palm Cove we saw some pull offs to parking on the water side. They come fast so we missed the first two... More
