Amazing

A harbor is not a usual tourist site of interest. However, one cannot avoid the view of thos huge port, just in front of Navegantes airport. Freight ships, movement, all in order, leaving or arriving every time. This port has brought work for thousands in the region and this is one example of how this country can develop, when in good hands!

Maybe a short trip?
Feb. 2018
There is one harbour in Itajai and one in Navegantes (the other side of the river). If you come/go from the airport in Navegantes it can be that you take the only-some-minutes car ferry between the two sides.

Itajai – Little town, limited interest
Mar. 2017 • Couples
Our cruise ship docked adjacent to the ferry that plies across the Rio Itajai-acu to the other side of the town.

We headed first towards Paroquia Santissimo Sacramento along Rua Hercilio Luz, which was lined with shops and commercial properties. As a sign of the state of the local economy, most of the former had shut down or were advertising sales or pre-liquidation bargains. The street was, though, far from deserted.

A grand colonial building stood at the intersection of Rua Hercilio Luz and Avenida Coronel Marcos Konder that now houses the Museu Historico de Itajai Palacio Mar, and we crossed the Avenue to reach Paroquia Santissimo Sacramento, which translates literally as the Parish of the Holy Sacrament,.

We now made our way back towards the river along a street parallel to Rua Hercilio Luz to reach the public fish market. By now, most of the activity in the market was concentrated on the food and drink area, with few patrons for the dozen or so fish stalls, which had a diverse range of the fruits of the sea on offer. There were only a few other stalls and most had closed already. From here, it was a short stroll along the river back to our ship.

Old and traditional Port Vale do Itajai
Sep. 2016 • Business
On my morning walks beyond the exercise I take to recognize the territory and give up grad on site. It had been years since I visit Itajai and the old port had urban interventions around him improving access including the Tourist Pier and Ferry B. Navegantes to sister city across the river. From the Itajai port is older and focused on fishing. See the pictures. From the Navegantes is private and most modern port. Maybe it will grow enough to the Mato Grosso state grains really start to flow here in addition to Paranaguá. Itajai quite advanced but will always be linked historically to its port and export operations. It's in the DNA.Inseparable from the port are the birds flying and landing in fishing boats: Grebes, herons and others.

Good Port
May 2016 • Business
Definitely one of the better ports in Brazil, if not the best. Friendly service and efficient working. Very secure as well.

Just a commercial area.

If you want great views of containers piled high or lorries dashing past this is the place for you. There really is nothing to see and few amenities. Itajai town centre is great but the area around the port is dissappointing to say the least.

Nice place for sailors
Dec. 2014
Being a sailor, this water front is very close to the port and offers a good sight to see. There are many stores around the place for shopping.
